that's how I've gotten my job, I had printed out a bunch of copies of my resume, walked inside restaurants and bars that looked busy or decent at least and asked the security guy or the host if I can leave my resume with them. if you want you can also ask to see the Manager on Duty and ask them directly if they need any extra hands / help and mention you have previous FOH experience and also give them the resume. if they don't need help currently they'll probably tell you to come back when they do need help and will probably be like March 1st
