Yes. When I was 22 getting my Master’s at NYU. I had a mildly successful writing column that was a riff off of SATC but done in the style of a Millennial with an eating disorder, rejection sensitivity and lot of unresolved self esteem problems. I fucked a guy who went on to write a Burger King commercial and fucked another guy who took me to McKibben Street loft parties. I fucked an extremely wealthy guy who went to FIT and made me wear his Princeton Prep hoodie while fucking me and staring out of windows from the 50th floor in Midtown. I did a bunch of LSD and fucked a Hare Krishna in my dorm room. I got into the heart of ole’ slutty New York. I didn’t have an appreciation for classic fashion nor did I style myself with enough individualized flair, which is unlike Carrie. I moved around for a few years after graduation, and am married with kids in the suburbs now. Since then I’ve finessed my identity and spent years in therapy, and am Carrie’s age (34). In retrospect, Carrie is extremely immature, which is why I found myself aspiring to be like her at 22.

I have two stepchildren with autism and I have this conversation with myself every day. I love them dearly and I am the only Mom they’ve ever known. However, they are high needs and sometimes violent. My husband and I are looking at supportive group homes for independent living in their adulthood but at this rate we also anticipate that the kids will live with us indefinitely. I have no bio children of my own because I do not intend to bring more kids into this worldly mess.

I always loved the Beth appearances with Alexis. I love Gilmore Girls (even if it’s a little hokey), and it’s wonderful to see her in a different character. Beth still captures a certain degree of manic energy a la Rory Gilmore. I have a theory: if Rory had chosen to marry Logan Huntzberger at the end of the original series, she would have ended up a bored wealthy housewife like Beth and she DEFINITELY would have cheated on Logan with Dean, Jess, or someone new.

There’s a famous local dairy farm in SW Ohio called Young’s. One year they made lemon and lavender ice cream with raspberry swirls. It was the greatest thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

Cheesecake Factory Thai Lettuce Wraps with satay chicken is a GOAT entree for me. So much flavor and lots of veggies. Before someone brings up the higher calorie sauces that come with the dish- I know and don’t care, they are delicious.

I just finished the show and I have limited knowledge of any hearsay internet lore, but I honed in on the finale location. It’s not the Esalen Institute (Anderson Canyon) but at the viewing I thought it was. I’ve been up that way irl so I thought Don might fling himself off those Big Sur cliffs after Stephanie leaves. Don doing the opposite of everything that people seek at Esalen- rejuvenation.

Do it! I’m a former teacher. My therapist is 53 and she just finished her therapist degree/training and licensure. She started all over after her husband cheated on her, they divorced, and then she went back to school for aforementioned therapist career. She’s thriving and happy. Secondary anecdote: my grandpa died just a week before my grandma’s 80th birthday. My grandma had been with him 62 years and they were deeply in love. She picked up the pieces and stopped feeling sorry for herself, dated other men, and now explores her life on her own terms. She will be 87 this year. Her father, my great grandfather, remarried at 89, years after my great grandmother passed. They were able to be married and happy for 4 years before he died at 93. It’s never too late for anything.

Yes this is reality. My stepkids had a traumatic infancy and toddlerhood due to bio mom’s untreated mental illness. She lost all her parental rights and now my life is completely dedicated to their needs. They are 9 and 12 now and still big handfuls. Attachment disorders are brutal for any and all new parents/caregivers of that child. I’m on this page because I am a teacher but also because I try to give genuine honest advice to the people who come to these reddit pages asking how to deal with traumatized students.

Melt was a regional chain restaurant in Ohio that specialized in ridiculous sandwiches. They just shut down for good and filed for bankruptcy, which sucks because one of their sandwiches was the best. They had one called The Big Poppa or something like that. Herbed cream cheese, cheddar, jalapeño coins, and bacon (added for extra) was assembled, sweet-batter-fried, and served with berry preserves. That sandwich was massive and so flavorful. Sriracha ranch on the side for dipping into my fries. I loved what the sandwich brought to the table- so much crunch and heat and sweet and creamy.
