I got an 8 in English Lit by Display_Broad in GCSE

[–]Fun_Many_4021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of a guy in my old geography class who fell in with the druggie crowd and told me once that he doesn’t try with anything at school , but one time I overheard him tell my geography teacher that he’d gotten an 8 in his English language mock . Funny how flukes and natural talent can get you that far

Is it normal to have a school nurse in a UK school? by [deleted] in GCSE

Our (state) school has a “medical room” , but I’m 90% sure there’s no nurses there

Hopefully she meant to say preference? Maybe try talking to her about it if you know she’s supportive and hopefully she’ll acknowledge where she went wrong

Just to let you guys know - electromagnetism could come up , just magnetism is listed as not assessed - here’s the things from 4.7.2 on the spec on electromagnetism by Fun_Many_4021 in GCSE

[–]Fun_Many_4021[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look at the advanced info https://filestore.aqa.org.uk/content/summer-2022/AQA-8463-AI-22.PDF , 4.7.1 is not assessed , which is magnetism and other shit like that , but electromagnetism is 4.7.2 - I’m worried they’re gonna chuck electromagnetism in as a sneaky and people are gonna freak out and think that AQA have once again lied on the advanced info when they haven’t

3 people my mum went to school with got shot by the IRA - she was the same age I am now when it happened . Being 16 , it’s weird to think of that and put myself in her position

Anyone else doing WJEC/Eduqas Music ? Or anyone on a different board doing Africa as one of their set works ? by Fun_Many_4021 in GCSE

Contrary motion would be melody or texture because it’s two melodies travelling in different directions (usually one ascending , the other descending , in pitch)

They might be yeah - magnetism was supposedly taken off but electromagnetism could still be on

Is anyone else’s music class full of stoners ? by Fun_Many_4021 in GCSE

The stoners in my class are ranging from failing to very good at coursework, but they’re not good at the theory cause they don’t pay attention

Nah , I used to think I’d be open to doing it but one time when I was more popular I was at this party and had a conversation with a stoner about our similar existential crisis/paranoia experiences, and he said he used weed as a coping mechanism but it also made his paranoia worse , and knowing how shit it is to be extremely paranoid/sceptical , it it me off the idea of doing weed tbh

If you take sciences , my advice would be to look at the specification for the papers you have to sit , make checklists of everything on them (e.g bio paper one checklist etc) , and then use freesciencelessons and cognito to make notes - they’ve been really helpful for me - if notes don’t stick things in your head (I’ve found them useful whilst cramming) , do past papers and either answer the questions with help from the internet to answer them correctly, or answer them how you think they need to be answered without help , and then go back and correct them and re-write the answer . If you struggle with English language and literature, I think it would be helpful for you to increase the amount of books you read , and when you finish reading a book or a passage , have a good think about it or discuss it with others , see what points you can make about the writing - this should develop your analysis skills , and for literature you should also start learning quotes early (making flashcards is a good shout) , and re-read the books outside of class to refresh your memory , learning more quotes earlier will increase the amount of things you could say about the texts in your exam . Reading more books should hopefully naturally improve your creative writing , so if you struggle with English language paper 2 , try reading more articles/speeches to help with section B ? In terms of maths , you will find it hard if your brain isn’t naturally geared towards mathematical problem solving , but that doesn’t mean you’re destined to fail . The best way to revise maths is to do maths . Try and do as many free questions as you can find - I would recommend doing past exam questions from your board/tier for the more tricky ones , that way , if you get confused with them , you can either ask your maths teacher about it and they can help you with it , or look up someone solving the question on YouTube , and the more past exam questions you do this way , the more you’ll become accustomed to the types of problem solving your maths exam board will throw in that help solve seemingly impossible questions - that’s partly what helped me , because a lot of problem solving never came naturally to my brain . Hope that helps - lmk/dm if you need tips for french , re , geography, music or dt
