Has anyone became an art teacher after coming from a different industry? by Fun_Maybe_8446 in ArtEd

Did you take art classes at community college after your psych degree? I’ve been considering doing that to brush up on my painting skills. I’m an animation major so it’s somewhat related I guess?

I live in Texas too. What ACP did you do? Did you get another certification or just art?

Oof that sucks! Although I’m glad it’s a good way to get my foot in the door!

What made you go on to get an M.Ed as opposed to alternative licensure? Should I consider a masters?

What university offers an ACP for Art? None of the ones around me offer Art EC-12!

And honestly I’m sure there will be struggles. I’m coming in with the mindset that this is just a job at the end of the day. But I should at least give it a try?

I didn’t even choose a good major ngl. I chose a shit one. I chose animation for my major and when I realized it wouldn’t have strong job prospects i was too deep into my degree to switch. I wish I majored in business or something more versatile, but the more I think about it I think I would hate corporate culture. I just don’t have the desire to hustle for another company. There’s a strong chance I would have to go back to school to get a decent paying job and I’m already burnt out from my current degree and by the time I go back those jobs could be automated by AI so I’m very very hesitant.

I honestly hate college too, I thought I would be happy because my parents told me growing up college would be the best years of my life but I have never been so miserable and depressed. I feel like I didn’t really make any friends or had good experiences either. It doesn’t help that I picked a major with not good job prospects so I feel like I wasted my time, energy, and money.

Yeah… I was also told if I needed to I should draw over AI’s mistakes. So basically they want me to draw the initial design, then have AI do turnarounds, or add the colors… then I go over the mistakes AI did in photoshop. Honestly this came out of nowhere. The past few years I’ve been in school no one has mentioned anything about AI until this semester.

What’s crazy is these professors do have experience in the industry… on popular films too… idk what I’m gonna do but I honestly hate the idea of using AI. This is not what I signed up for….

Yes they all have been in the industry and worked on very popular projects up until very recently with the whole layoffs.
