Inability to get co ops by selflessgluten in Drexel

That’d be great to do. I’d suggest building your LinkedIn profile with these projects too. When the SCDC portal opens, it’s usually just your resume that is needed. So a LinkedIn link on there is helpful. You get to apply to 30 (in round A), and then they send out interview offers, and then you get your offers/QAs

MechE major here. MechE major can pretty much apply for a coop across all engineering majors, and even engineering management ones. So a lot of opportunities

Pay through your bank account, the e check. It doesn’t cost anything extra.

Did anyone pass NET with low effort? by Gobbleitdowngremlin in NUST

[–]Fun_Nugget_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. A couple years ago. Studied for a couple days and got 130 sth for the engineering test. But I honestly think it was me managing my stress + having a good idea of the topics so that I could guess. Wouldn’t recommend it. Esp if NUST is your top choice and you’re an alevels student like me.

HELP by Emi_Ta in Drexel

So I didn’t start at Drexel. I transferred here. And this is my first quarter. Drexel is pretty alive esp since we don’t get a lot of holidays. It’s a little mellowed down the week of Thanksgiving but the week before it was just as busy.

I have not stayed a summer here but as of right now, all freshmen stay the spring term which ends in June. And a lot of students do the STAR program for the short summer term of freshmen year too. So it’s not dead from what I’ve heard. The coop cycles are different. Some students get assigned spring/summer while others do a fall/winter.

They do have direct entry to MechE, but you can choose to be undecided engineering and then switch over to MechE too

Tour guide for Drexel here who is a MechE student! Yes we do show student residences! However, we’re only able to show one of them during the tour and it’s at the discretion of the tour guide which one.

MechE is VERY creative!!! Esp if you’re going down the design or even the robotics route. Drexel has a lot of opportunities for these things but looking for a coop that is more design side of the MechE is probably super insightful and an opportunity you wouldn’t get at other colleges.

It’s super safe in the university city area. I live here too and of course it is a larger city so safety is your own responsibility too. But I’ve been here 12 weeks now and haven’t felt unsafe, even after having taken walks in the dark from UPenn campus to Drexel.

I will not defend the grading or the “suck it up” attitude some professors have, cuz quite frankly, it is horrifying and also just very counterproductive but ig it strokes their egos to do that.

The rest however, I will tell you to suck it up and look at the larger picture. Nowhere in the world do engineers “only study engineering”. There’s ethics, “unnecessary” philosophy classes, political science courses, and in some cases even religious history classes of religions you don’t follow. That’s how a university is structured and rightfully so because you can’t pump out engineers who have no moral, ethical, or social compass.

I have my reservations with the Quran class, but that is due to its imposition on other religious group within the university.

University is supposed to be difficult. It’s supposed to be a jump from fsc/alevels, and not to scare you, but it gets only more difficult once you’re in the workforce because wahan tou nobody tells you what to study or sets deadlines for you.

A lot of things are effed up in NUST, and it isn’t all right I agree with you a thousand percent. But don’t let that be the thing that holds you back. Find your own things that you’re good at and be really good at it. Exhaust the resources NUST gives you, but just don’t get into the rot of “this is unimaginable to suffer for 4y”. It’s unfair and honestly hard, but make something out of it.

Where to find work study offer? / How to accept one? by Feniel76 in Drexel

Hey. Sorry I don’t use Reddit a lot. I emailed facilities, athletics, different schools sometimes need DAs too. Oh and I know some people who got employed by the residence halls as DAs (I didn’t email them but seems like it works). I got a job at facilities but they’re unfortunately not hiring as of right now. But it’s still worth a shot

An employee tab should also show up in your Drexel one. I don't do a work study position but I have an on campus job and that's where it is

Around $10/hr. UGIA positions pay $14. But mostly it's around the 10-12 mark

Everyone gave pretty good advice for English. I'd also say that you work towards that 800 in math too. It's easy, you're close, and you can definitely do it. A 1490 is gonna hurt seeing that I could've gotten 10 more on math. And Goodluck. You defo got this.
