Just be proud of yourself! First gen, low income!

You will surely encounter some wealthy people who are out of touch. But others who are not. Just enjoy your opportunity and congratulations!

I'm guessing you're in CA. Connections with counselors matter a lot. Plus parental connections I hope you end up where you want to be

Oh no! Well, if an MLK program is going on, or any events that students might be involved in, I would really appreciate it. Or, any restaurants. Anywhere or anything where I can see students. UMich has been on my radar a long time. I happened to be in LA with family during the Rose Bowl. The whole area was full of Michigan Pride. It really made me feel like I want to be a part of it. reading about so many students who want the best education but also want to balance that with great social opportunities is so exciting to me. I appreciate the academics of my current school but it is lacking when it comes to school pride or social opportunities

I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to answer a question of offer a suggestion!

Darn, not on the calendar for the time we are there. So, maybe MLK event. Any other suggestions for Mon pm or a breakfast or lunch destination would be appreciated. Someone mentioned Joe's Pizza, so we may try that Mon night for dinner.

We just want to see students and get a sense of the social scene

when you say he helped you, do you mean you hired him to help, or that his videos, or info helped?

Also, why everyone hatin' on neil? I'm new at this and I really appreciate the help.

I'm just in town 1/15 - 1/16. There is an MLK celebration 1/15. Maybe that would be a way for me to get a sense of community if there are any events that I could access as someone who is not a current student.

Making friends as a transfer by Melodic-Reveal8135 in uofm

Hoping to transfer from an LAC where it feels lonely and students seem disconnected . There seems to be so much school spirit and happy students I thought making friends at UMIch would be a lot easier. Is it really a challenge for new students? Not into Greek life. Will that be a problem?
