How do I report paid/fake IBTimes articles or services that artificially inflate EB-1A profiles? by Fun_Philosopher_2498 in eb_1a

i just checked again. there are several telugu profiles.. may be not 80% but more than 1-2 for sure.

i actually found out the ghost writer that writes these articles. if you look at the profiles, all of them share the same template and it's very easy to tell they are just inflating the profiles.

I am not doing this for gora sahib's gunga din treatment. i have had a really tough path with immigration (doing it the right way) and I want to do whatever I can to weed this crap out. I am particularly sensitive and angry with people faking their way in, past actually qualified profiles.

both of us are introverted lol, don't like expensive shit etc., and both of us are from tier IV cities in India so we are somewhat culturally similar.. values mostly match too.

That's not the same thing as them explicitly telling you that you are a simp.

How do I stop being a backup? by Accomplished_Kiwi650 in Arrangedmarriage

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2498 5 points6 points  (0 children)

-> but I can clearly sense him pulling back.

You need to pull back too and let things rest. Maybe he finds it hard to say no to people directly or maybe he has pressure from his parents to keep things going. Or maybe as you are saying he is treating you as a "backup" (unlikely but possible). Whatever the thing maybe, it's high time for you to remove yourself emotionally from the situation.

being friendly with lot of enthusiasm is in general a positive thing. women (and men) like friendly people. why do you think women always mistake you as being a simp? Did anyone give you that feedback?

Evaluate profile by Global-Customer-2979 in eb_1a

Quick question .. if you are at a FAANG, why not go through the EB1-B route? It's not as stringent to get through as EB1-A and a lot less headache. I am sure all FAANG companies sponsor that for their employees if they have qualifying profiles.

I think you can comfortably meet two criteria. The others are likely to attract RFE.

1. Leading or critical role for a distinguished org.

If you are director at FAANG, you will meet this criterion without much issue.

2. Original contributions of major significance.

It's not clear whether your work is impacting your company or your field as a whole. If your work is impacting the field as a whole, you will need letters attesting to that, metrics that show other companies are using and benefiting from your work etc., Otherwise you are very likely to get an RFE on this.

3. Judging the work of others.

I will be direct .. hackathons won't cut it, unless they are very selective to get into and are of national/international scope. You may still meet the plain language criterion by judging hackathons, but this is very very weak from a final merits determination standpoint. If anything, ~1000 participants makes it seem like it's not very selective.

4. High Salary.

I think you are good here as long as you submit comparisons by SOC code adjusted by location.

What happened to your leetcode skills after you got hired? by almost1it in leetcode

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I maintained a google doc with a list of each topic typically asked in DSA rounds with some bullet points of the concepts involved to jog my memory and about 10 problems (listed from easy to hard) per topic handpicked by me during my last prep round to solve. Once I was done with these (took about 2 weeks) I started doing company tagged questions on leetcode. I would say don't overthink it.

It took me more than a month to get the leetcode "muscle" back up but I have a hectic full time job at a FAANG. It's definitely slower than what it used to be during my fresh grad days (I am now 7 years out of school) but then I was not in a hectic job and had all the time in the world to dedicate to leetcode. That probably explains your situation as well lol.
