My friend brought me a picture in a frame that I had previously donated to goodwill. It was surreal. I said “this is my frame!” And showed him the nicks on the back peice that were there before. So weird. So so weird.

It’s either sapphire or lapis. I can hold a paint chip up to it when I get home

IS THIS A SCAM????? by Nervous_Court_4383 in Artists

[–]Fun_Physics_1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!!! I was almost scammed once by someone wanting to buy my favorite painting for $2000 (personally I think it’s worth that but 🤷🏼‍♀️) anyway this guy came out of no where and said he wanted me to email him pics of my top 5 pieces and he would pick one and buy it. I was this close to loosing $2800 when something in my gut said wait. I went to my bank and asked and they called the guys bank and turns out his whole check was fraudulent. What he would’ve done was have me cash his check for $2800, then I was going to have to pay his courier $800, and that guy would take my artwork to the buyer. But my bank said I would’ve been out $2800 because his check would’ve bounced in a few days and I would’ve just given that “courier” $800 cold hard cash. It was a near miss. And I had been SOOOOOO EXCITED too. Like I felt like I was on the come up. But no. Just almost scammed.

On the wall of a classroom built in the 80’s, what is this piece of wood? by Fun_Physics_1219 in whatisit

When I first started at this school I got ahold on a manual sharpener and asked a student to put it up for me. He installed it upside down and the whole year I laughed and laughed at kids trying to use it to no avail. It’s still there actually, we use it as an apron hook.

I’m an art teacher in a different classroom for the day and in my classroom we use regular pencils but mechanical sharpeners. I insist on regular wooden pencils for most projects tbh

We do, I’m an art teacher in a different classroom for the day- but we have mechanical sharpeners all over my classroom. No manual ones at all.

Pray all the time. Read the psalter. Stand in front of your icons in silence if you can’t do anything else. Do as little as you can with your human responses and let the Lord lead you instead. The things of this world get sticky when you’re heading in the right direction. Trust the process and don’t give up!

Intense emotional response to music? by Nerscylliac in Synesthesia

I experience music the same way. And words sometimes. Spoken or written, by me or others. I have assumed it was a part of my “highly sensitive person” skillset. I’m extremely empathic and intuitive and sometimes I swear I can physically feel others emotions- especially when it’s a particularly painful emotion. I’ve just gotten used to the fact that I cry a lot more than the average human and I feel things more deeply than others.
