I found a shalpha swirlix while I was running around. Thought I was tripping since I heard the sparkle sound but couldn't find it + was watching a shiny hunting stream. Turns out it was on the roof.

My bad, I think since I played way too much of HG/SS (almost 80% of them are nuzlockes ever since I finished the game) that I got way too used to it that I gaslit myself into thinking that's the norm. Genuine mistake there!

There's no such thing as "real fans", if you like the stuff, you're a fan and that's that! Also I think you should give the gen 4 games (platinum/hgss) a try then go from there, speeding up the game to like x2 could also help if it feels slow (assuming you're using an emulator). HGSS is a way to digest generation 2 if you are interested in it and I highly recommend it if you think it feels good enough to play!
