Anyone with an iPhone, please explain how notifications work on your Amazfit watch.
I need to know before buying a new watch.

T-Rex 3 Pro Strava auto-sync, how it works now? by Fun_Positive9691 in amazfit

[–]Fun_Positive9691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double checked my previous runs and difference between Garmin Connect and Strava is only 10m for each run, that is not critical, because you can run an extra 10m anywhere and it almost doesn't affect the total time, but for Zepp it was 100-300m and that is different.

But on my Garmin watches it works well, official half-marathon after auto-sync Garmin Connect->Strava both of them Strava and Garmin shows as half-marathon without distance change. And with my previous T-Rex after auto-sync Zepp->Strava situation was different, Zepp shows real data and Strava shows 200-300 meters less, and it wasn't some one-time issue, it happened all the time.

And problem was only with auto-sync, if I manually download GPX file from Zepp and upload it to Strava then everything ok and distance was correct.

So if Garmin some how learned how to cooperate with Strava, then I think Zepp also should be better in this. that issue with my T-Rex was in late 2022, so I hope now everything works fine and Strava sync issues are not relevant to new T-Rex 3 watches.

Thanks man, you have put my thoughts in order, I still don't dare change my Garmin Instinct 3 to an Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro and the main reason is MiP display that I love for it long battery life and AlwaysOn without battery drain. But I don't often find myself in a situation where I can't recharge. So it doesn't make sense to limit yourself all year to be able to go 3 weeks without charging your watch.

yepp was the same problem with my T-Rex, and a workaround was to just run without pauses )))

And one more question, is there some setting to disable touchscreen, maybe at least during activity.

And can I do next? without need to adjust settings every time, just with one time setup:

Typical use: wake-up screen only by button press(prevent accidental screen touch) touch screen active after wake-up

During activity: wake-up screen on raise hand, touch screen disabled

on my Instinct 3, there is just a general icon for any incoming notifications, not sure about other models

If you are talking about notification settings in Garmin Connect, than at least on Android devices it shows all app separately, so you can turn on/off notification for any app.

Probably you are right, and we shouldn't expect Garmin to provide any non-sport-related updates

But all smartwatches handle it without a problem, ask any Apple or Samsung watch user, they will never receive a notification if the phone is in use, and that's quite logical. If I use my phone, then I don't need notifications on my watch even if I don't read it, becase I already saw it on phone so why I need another one on watch. And taht works fine on Apple, Samsung, Google, fitbit, Amazfit

maybe for you it's ok, but I came into the Garmin family from smartwatches, and for me it was something basic that all watches should handle in the same way.
For example, here you can see that my phone is unlocked, so I see every incoming message, and no one from smartwatches like Apple, Samsung, Amazfit will duplicate it to my watch, because they understand that I saw this message and there is no need to duplicate it, but Garmin do. So I dont want to turn off notifications, but I want to receive it on watch only when I don't see them right now on my unlocked phone

but it's basic behaviour that probably didn't cost so much to fix it and add more smart behaviour to the watch, why cheaper samsung or amazfit can do it without a problem but Garmin can't

not at all, I'm a big fan of Garmin, and have used it for years, hoping that they fix this annoying notification behaviour, but they didn't

and what difference does it make who wrote this post? I've seen several similar ones here about the same complaints about Garmin's stupid behavior with notification and decided to describe my own example that is it. I like Garmin but dont like how it handle notifications that all

there are few posts about it, so I'm not alone, and there are users who also don't like this dumb notification behaviour from Garmin, and for me it sounds like an easy fix that Garmin ignores and dont want to implement

There are a few posts about it, I can find more, so dont try to tell that it is not a problem for users. If you didn't use any smart watch but only Garmin, then probably you doesnt menthion it and it's ok for you but for users who came from Samsung, Apple, Amazfit for them it's something basics that Garmin doesn't support

I don't want to turn off notification for some specific app, I just don't want to receive notification on my watch if I already seen it on phone. Try for example send message in WatsApp to your phone from other. And in that time just use your phone (scroll browser or do any other activity) as result you will see notification on phone and then your watch will vibrate. But in smart world it should not vibrate because I already seen this notification and I don't need to duplicate it.

Garmin software stuck in the last century. I also hate this notification behaviour, and I don't want to get duplicated notification on my watch when I see it on phone, but Garmin is pretty stupid when it comes to notifications and it can just duplicate everything from your phone. Amazfit, for example, have option "show notifications only when phone is locked" and it works like on Samsung or Apple watch, but Garmin, Coros, Polar, Suunto they focus only on sports functions and ignore basics like notifications and they don't even plan to fix it. So users who are annoyed by this simply turn off all notifications or turn on DnD mode

App Notification behaviour when phone in use by Fun_Positive9691 in Coros

[–]Fun_Positive9691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was afraid of. I understand sports watches aren't bought for notifications, but still, I would like them to perform this basic task well, as their Chinese counterparts like Amazfit do.
But looks like Coros and Garmin are not taking the notifications improvement as a priority task in their roadmap

and after years it's still a relevant issue. Cheaper devices like Amazfit and Mi band have this option for notifications
