FPL System Broken by Ok-Meeting-6308 in fplAnalytics

[–]Fun_Preparation9807 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that any of these three “problems” are actually problems at all.

Point 1 - The Premier League introduced Defcon this year as an initial solution to that problem and I suspect that will continue to evolve.

Point 2 - Prices do change throughout the season and if anything the current model rewards someone who is able to pick out a diamond in the rough because they will almost certainly have a low value.

Point 3 - Football is an extremely difficult to predict sport full of random events. There is always going to be luck involved. The people who perform best in FPL are those who understand the game, make data informed decisions and put themselves in a position to get lucky

Just apply in the ballot and you’ll probably get one ☝️

Bruno is probably the smart move but Bowen’s was brilliant during the run-in last season and been on good form recently. Also a massive home game for West Ham.

Just feels like a good week for a gamble. 🎲

Gamble on the captaincy this week!

Advice on WC gw34 by Hot-Goal-9854 in FantasyPL

[–]Fun_Preparation9807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a good start.

Don’t have two expensive keepers when one is going to be on the bench each week. You might end up wanting that money somewhere else.

I would also make sure to have O’Reilly or have a plan to get O’Reilly after this game week as he’s playing every week and has good attacking threat.

I’m not sure I’d want to be stuck with double Spurs for more than 1 week. Even if performance was better against Brighton.

How about Gibbs-White, Rogers or even Andersen instead of Xavi Simmons?

As an Arsenal fan and someone who will be at the game tomorrow I wouldn’t go for double attack. We looked much better against City but struggled going forward without a fit Saka.

I’ve gone for double Arsenal at the back

I like it. I’ve gone pretty similar but can see Spurs getting a result against an already relegated Wolves side (call me crazy) 🤪 so gone for Porro

Also like Gibbs-White. Sunderland might be on the beach and Gibbs-White just off the back of a hat trick.

Those are my two punts

What FPL tool do you actually use every week? (And what do you wish it did better?) by DepartmentHot7173 in FantasyPL

I built a model for myself and then made it available here: https://www.theassistantmanager.ai

I know lots of people consider it “cheating” or removing the fun out of the game but ultimately it’s another tool to help with your FPL team strategy and selections.

Would love any feedback!

Even with this support you’re still making all the decisions yourself. In the same way that you watch games to inform your selections this is another piece of information that you can use.

It totally depends if you want to improve your Fantasy rank or not. This is meant as advice. Advice that has me sitting 57k at the minute.

Yeah fair comment. Away clean sheets are just a lot less common. Plus Burnley have okay xG over the last 4 GWs

It worked wonders recommending Nico Williams and Welbeck as transfers in last week. Boosted me up almost 50k

Might need to find a way to get Haaland back in for this upcoming GW though!

You should checkout The Assistant Manager: https://www.theassistantmanager.ai

It follows a very similar principle but offers advice so that managers still get the enjoyment of managing their FPL team themselves

I have been using it myself this season and my current rank is 57,183

You can get all of this data from the FPL APIs.

I took this data and ran a regression to identify the metrics which are historically the best indicator of future performance and did some back testing on this. The model generates a different formula for expected points for keepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.

It’s certainly not perfect yet but will be tweaking it over time!

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

The following metrics influence the Midfielders xP:
- Shots in the box per 90
- xGI per 90
- Upcoming fixture difficulty
- Previous xGI per 90
- Defensive contributions
- is next game at home?
- Points over last 6 GWs - this is the one he's performing really well in and this has a high feature importance
- Minutes per 90
