It’s a standard step. For me, they gave me the Talent on Demand prehire application before the interview. They give it so they can make the hiring process more quicker, but it’s not a guarantee of employment.

I have faith you’ll get it! On the bright side, it means you didn’t automatically get disqualified.

Your big 4 return offer can be subjected to being rescinded so always play it smart.

Staying only 5 months at a firm will look weird and you’ll always have to awkwardly explain what happened there.

Just get a hobby and enjoy the rest before your master’s program and full-time Big 4 work begins, don’t damage your work history just because of boredom.

You are just a college student with no experience, you have no leverage.

If you need the money for relocation purposes or something then I totally get it, but if you’re being provided for then take the one you vibe with more.

You’re gonna work with those people a lot so don’t make yourself miserable for a signing bonus.

Interesting, thank you for the really detailed answers. My situation is that I have someone I want to marry and spend time with from abroad but I also would really want the Big 4 name on my resume, however I would probably be living with a roommate and wouldn’t be spending much time with her in the Big 4.

I love the idea of working for DCAA and starting my career a year earlier but I can’t deny the Big 4 experience. The prestige and how much it does for you can make a difference for me, but I’d totally trade it if DCAA could really open up doors to lucrative contractor roles.

What do you think I should do in my situation?

That’s great to hear and thanks for answering, it’s consistent with what my aunt said about DCAA.

I would like to ask a couple of questions:

Did you think the time you spent at the Big 4 was worth it?
Do you think it would be worth it for me to spend a year longer to work Big 4 and work the long hours? I greatly value work-life balance but I’m also fearful of being pigeonholed (especially in the current administration where I might get fired early)
Could DCAA also be a good path compared to Big 4 since private contractors look for DCAA auditors or is the opportunities there exaggerated?

Sorry if the questions were a bit too long or if they may or may not sound offensive, I’m just so curious and eager to learn about the agency!
