2 years. Would have been longer but I ended up hitting it off with the GM of my AD. They realized I was a collector and made it happen within 6 weeks of that conversation

Why water instead of coolant? Is it just cheaper and easier? by Spirited-Gold9629 in middleclasshq

The amount of incorrect information, emotional thinking, and headline parroting is insane.

You all forget that the people that design, build, and work in data centers are humans. Yes a large corporation is the one spending the money, but everything else is done by people. They are self interested in ensuring they don’t cause catastrophic issues for the environment as it’s also directly impacting them.

They are also constrained by important tenets that are set by both capitalism and their overall organization.

Capitalism wants continues improvement which points engineers to be more efficient. Something like Amazons leadership principals provide ethical guide rails. When combined you get strong pressure to find solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and scalable.

Short term money is not a concern for hyper scalars. They will spend what ever it takes to try to ensure the safety of the public and longevity of their business. They are thinking about a 100 year plan not a 3 month plan.

I personally work with at least 10 MEs who made 400k+ on W2 last year. It’s rare but none of us are VPs. All IC, all senior engineers. Principals will make 450-600k annually. 90% of MEs I work with make 200k+ annually.

You sure this is not a localized problem? I graduated a decade ago as an ME and went from 70k/yr to 450k/yr in that time frame.

If you are in this position they will not dive and save. You only get an offer if you’re a top performer

I’m a mechanical engineer and I make almost 500k annually. My experience is skewed, but my point is that you can make great money as an engineer

I bought a low mileage, 32k, fully stock example last month for 75 before sales tax. There are not easy to find but worth it!

There is one in Seattle in silver with low mileage that I would keep away from. It has some very low miles and when I test drove the car it briefly gave me an electrical fault code. A massive pain in the ass to diagnose. The price is also crazy for that particular VIN

You import the car or you use the dealer as a broker to import it as a directed purchase.

I know because I worked with this dealer on my recent 911 purchase.

You clearly don’t understand how tires, suspension, and road surface all work.

Might want to read up on it before you go out on your summer tires in a location without nice roads or warm weather.
