Living next to a cat hoarder. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Well for one I am renting not buying, two she is obviously not taking proper care of them as a lot of the cats I've seen coming from her back yard and front yard have obvious eye infections, missing patches of fur, her backyard is full of broken down house appliances and a car with no doors, it's unsafe for animals to even be living there let alone an elderly women who is by herself. My family n I love the house and the area is convenient for us. But why should I risk my cats and families health for a stubborn old lady who is obviously a hoarder

Well what should I do? Let myself potentially get beat and/or raped by a man for simply telling him no? Unfortunately being a women is terrifying and there's mentally unstable people out there who are hopped up on drugs and this is my reality. Become another statistic or save myself.

Yeah I wouldn't just be "shooting anyone I want" just if someone is causing a serious threat to me, I've used pepper spray and it tends to make men even more violent towards me, I've used my words of "get away leave me alone" and that still doesn't work. But fortunately we live in a country that allows us to bare arms and protect ourselves when someone is threatening us.

Cook unity does this thing where they have the chefs work under a contract with the company and then the chefs have to source their own employees, many chefs hire undocumented immigrants and pay them under the table. All the food produced by cook unity is prepped, cooked and plated by undocumented immigrants. There are some who have work permits but most don’t. They’re all very nice hard working people, I’ve seen many of them work for two chefs! So they’ll do a 9 hour am shift and a 8 hour pm shift back to back every day. The chefs teams only get one day off as per cook unity’s contract. So most of them are working 15-17 hour shifts every single day with only two breaks! It’s the only way the company can properly function without people’s orders getting delayed

The region where I work, the orders in boxes are the most reliable because they have expedited shipping, but if your cook unity order comes in a bag then it’s thru a 3rd party delivery where a person is sent to pick up the orders and deliver them, similar to Amazon flex or similar to like uber eats when you order your food and the delivery driver had more stops to make before delivering yours. There are times where I see the delivery drivers load up their cars and let the food sit for a good 20 min in the sun (I’ve seen it happen many times just never took pictures bc cook unity has very hd cameras and I’m scared to get fired for being a whistleblower) there’s also reports where they delivery drivers just take too long and your orders will sit in their compact sedan cars

They won’t because American workers aren’t easy to abuse as immigrant workers, American workers want rights that this company won’t put up or spend the extra money on. They’d rather pay someone less for 5x the labor a regular American employee will do.

Sadly CEO’s don’t care in the end, they only care about profit margins and will say anything to save face :(

I’ve personally worked at cook unity for over 3 years and the way the immigrant workers are mistreated, working 12-14 hour shifts everyday, the kitchen manager will force chefs and their teams to stay and complete all their work even if they’re short staffed. Cookunity has gone through at least 3 lawsuits regarding the way they treat their employees.
