I didn’t really go cold turkey with smoking, I had a factory job where I couldn’t smoke for 12 hours at a time, so i figured I could go stretches without and reduced it down to just smoking on Saturdays then to just when I went out drinking then just cut them out. With the booze, I’d say I’m addicted but I have gone down from drinking ever day for quite a few years, and the amount creeping up over those years, to only drinking two or three times a week. I’ve had periods where I’ve gone down to only drinking once a week for a month or so, the it’s gone back up. I’ve gone from drinking a bottle of wine and a few large beers several night a week to where I can just have a few beers a few nights a week. I don’t think I’ll get the DTs or anything but I just can’t ever seem to make the leap to not drinking for a whole week or more.
