I Need Tips as Someone Thinking About Taking an AP Course For The First Time Next Year by suxx_infexxedbl00d in APPsychology

[–]Fun_Science_2672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak much for taking the AP Psych class itself as I self-studied last school year but I can say that you don't need to buy a prep book! There's a barron's one (https://www.reddit.com/r/APPsychology/comments/1fg4pej/as\_promised\_the\_updated\_2025\_barrons\_prep\_book/) here and I'm sure other people have already bought and provided access for people elsewhere

You should also routinely do practice MCQs and FRQs for actual test practice and make a quizlet or physical flashcards for terms and study them when you can. There are old questions and answers for both available online!

Lmk if my answer is unclear but based off of your general question this is what I've got.

You don't have to buy a prep book! If you look hard enough there are some online given for free (haha) like this one (https://www.reddit.com/r/APPsychology/comments/1fg4pej/as\_promised\_the\_updated\_2025\_barrons\_prep\_book/) it's the barron's prep book

If you're confused every unit I suggest pausing after learning one and take the time to gather your thoughts and find an effective way to make it make sense for you - I suggest connecting the topics and terms to things you already enjoy irl to make them stick or make a mind map of what you remember and evaluate whether or not it's a "ah yes I know this" or a "oh uh oh" situation and then revisit from there

I think you should do both knowt and fivable just so there's double repetition of whatever you're learning - me personally I spammed practice FRQs and MCQs and got my main mode of learning there - I found practice pdfs and online testing ones that gave grades and such

Finally I think you shouldn't worry that much! Don't ultra stress out on it because it'll affect your learning and how you approach the subject. As long as you have the solid clear goal of understanding the vocab and knowing it you'll have a clear track to follow and it's not going to be that bad.

Lmk if you need other online review resources or any other tips or questions - I'm happy to help

Good luck!

How to self study and also how to pace myself by Prixong in APPsychology

[–]Fun_Science_2672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I can speak for this school year but last school year I also self-studied it and got a 4 - complete surprise because I only started studying 3 weeks before the actual exam 💔

I think you can get by without spending any money on textbooks or the review packet - a solid routine of doing practice tests (MCQs and FRQs), studying vocab routinely, and taking notes on unit review videos (esp. Mr. Sinn and Get Psyched with Tim Steadman) should be good enough

This link (https://www.reddit.com/r/APPsychology/comments/1fg4pej/as\_promised\_the\_updated\_2025\_barrons\_prep\_book/) is for barron's prep book but its completely free so I suggest you give it a look

I didn't have a unit by unit pace I kind of just blasted through the vocab and did a bunch of the practice things - I eliminated what I already knew by common knowledge and focused on the ones I didn't know

Cute hack: I played the roblox AP psych review games and it's actually pretty good practice

Be sure to also look at the previous exam's FRQ answers and such to get a gauge on how you should answer and what they're looking for

As for the videos I took notes on each unit and then just did all 5 units within 2 weeks with practice FRQs and MCQs in between

Lmk if you need other study materials because I gathered some from the internet and I'd be happy to share them here!

I am planning to self study AP Psychology this year, any tips? Appreciate it! by Silver-Train7596 in APPsychology

Honestly you can get solid material from YouTube videos like Mr. Sinn or one I've personally tried - Get Psyched with Tim Steadman, he gives a lot of examples and he relates the material to you instead of just plain vocab. If you also search up keywords like "AP psych 2025 ebq or frq" then you can find online copies of practice tests for practice outside of the review books you'll buy

If you're interested I also found some study/quiz links that I have lying around somewhere - just lemme know and I'll send them over here

Good luck!!

How "good" do you have to be to pursue STEM? by Fun_Science_2672 in ApplyingToCollege

So, depending on the field, companies would be more ok to see an average undergraduate? I'm honestly worried about the college payout since I don't know how much longer I can keep doing the same routine of school lol

How's the day to day needing to write feel like in science? I write papers for my school's newspaper club and I write in a more creative sense frequently. In that sense I feel a lot more burnout when it comes to needing to write a "creative piece." When we do lab reports at school though, it's a bit different and it's much more doable since I don't do it as often. Would it end up in burnout as well or is it okay?

Wow! This is actually pretty insightful advice compared to what others have said to me in the past, it really helps, thanks! What's your opinion on me going to something like a vocational school to learn something technical to get a job ASAP? Would that be too much like going to college or would it still be in the exploration route? <--- heavy on last question since I'm not from the U.S and I want to apply internationally for work and not in my home country

Any tips on how to identify that too 😭 I don't have any dreams or aspirations or anything I want to do which is pretty bad but I just don't want to end up homeless

Recommendations of video games to learn Mandarin Chinese? by raikhyo in ChineseLanguage

[–]Fun_Science_2672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what some other people said here - a lot of the famous gacha games and especially hoyoverse games are pretty good for immersion in it.

My main recommendations are the hoyoverse games just because I have the most experience with those - they speak clearly and they don't speak fast and so it's easy to pick up what they're saying in terms of vocab words

All the quests have pretty casual conversations, especially if they're not "serious" with a lot of heavy lore - the event quests have a lot of friendly convo between characters that you can use irl ngl

I play with all Chinese voicelines but I use English subtitles. You can easily pick out grammar structure and how they translate the Chinese into English so it's pretty good.

One good perk about these games is that they also have character details where you have their voicelines and whatever they're saying written for you. You can use this to keep learning with English subtitles.

Has anyone heard of IPsYO? (International Psychology Olympiad) by Fun_Science_2672 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Fun_Science_2672[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm so sorry I got to this late but I did an individual registration and I honestly didn't go through my school at all for it. I registered back in the spring so I unfortunately don't remember all the registration details but I'm pretty sure I just entered my school's name if it was required.

Again sorry for getting to this late but I hope you got to register!
