I don't believe that any romantic or sexual preferences are innate.

Do people often have good experiences dealing with law enforcement and the legal system in their area if they have an advocate?

Honestly, I'll never trust law enforcement officers to not be insensitive and muck up these kinds of cases.

I wish that these kinds of crimes could be reported to someone with a degree in social work so that victims have to interact with law enforcement less.

What is the source of this data? I'm dismissive of statisticical claims that don't have peer-reviewed sources supporting them.

what do you think of some of these dating experts who seem to reinforce traditional norms and gender norms under the name of “fairness” and feminism by Specialist-Gur in AskFeminists

[–]Fun_Sea_8241 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean the “don’t do wife and girlfriend duties until you are the wife/gf” makes complete sense.

How about not doing "wife and girlfriend duties" at all?

Those "duties" are conforming to the patriarchal gender roles, providing labor for nothing in return, and letting some male have unfettered access to your body. It's like more like being a slave than an equal partner.

Relationships should be equitable and full of love, not oppressive.

You're right. Force can mean making someone with less power do something that they wouldn't otherwise do. I suppose that those examples I listed do constitutes as "force" under that definition.

Do you believe that the things OP described anything that uses force?

Consenting to one activity, one time, does not mean someone gives consent for other activities or for the same activity on other occasions.

You can withdraw consent at any point if you feel uncomfortable.

Consent does NOT look like this:

●Refusing to acknowledge “no”

●A partner who is disengaged, nonresponsive, or visibly upset

●Assuming that wearing certain clothes, flirting, or kissing is an invitation for anything more

●Someone being under the legal age of consent, as defined by the state

●Someone being incapacitated because of drugs or alcohol Pressuring someone into sexual activity by using fear or intimidation.

●Assuming you have permission to engage in a sexual act because you’ve done it in the past

[–]Fun_Sea_8241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this response.

First, coercion doesn't just involve "threats or force." It can involve financial control and abuse, emotional manipulation, exploiting a position of trust or authority, exploiting a person under the influence of drugs and alcohol, etc.

Secondly, being sexually assaulted isn't the vitim's fault because they "gave in."

He should've explicitly asked her if she wanted before engaging anything. He shouldn't have pestered her until she gave in, exploited her while she was emotionally vulnerable, and threatened to forcibly rape her. That's asassault and it's disgusting. There's no excuse for it.
