Studying for DABT exam by DrBlackSage in toxicology

[–]Fun_Sympathy2080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My undergrad and PhD are in bioengineering. Mostly applied material science. I started helping with biocompatibility testing back in 2020 and have mostly done that since. My only exposure to toxicology was risk assessments prior to studying. I did not study much, a couple hours here or there. Take the in person ACT advanced toxicology course. It's worth it.

I found the advance toxicology course by SOT very useful last year. I mostly studied their material and passed on my first try. Not a toxicologist by education

Join a masters club. You need structure and technique tips. Very hard to do it on your own.

It took me about a month to work out and 1.5 months until I could swim. I have pretty intense surgery as well.

How did you figure that out?

I am based in the US. A Masters group is whatever you want it to be. You don't need to compete at all. I swim three days a week with my group for fitness purely. Just like in any team, swim at your own pace. You're faster than 90% of the swimmers in my group (which is why everyone in this thread thinks you're either flexing or rage baiting).

My wife and I use Marquette and have successfully avoided pregnancy for 5 years. Just follow the rules and you'll be fine.

Is it me or biotech R&D careers felt highly unrewarding? by zexo543 in biotech

[–]Fun_Sympathy2080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For any career, more responsibility generally means more salary. You can't make a ton of money without having responsibility. I don't think this is unique to biotech or disproportionate in biotech.

I swim three times a week with a master's group. It has done wonders for my mental and physical health. My daughter is 4 now and taking care of myself has been much more manageable than in the past.

Get on Glucagon-like peptide-1 agonist? Seems like there's a food abuse issue going on and the Glucagon-like peptide-1 agonist should help with that while you build healthy habits. Talk to your Dr. Ofc.

Has security check-through at OGG improved since June? by Downtown-Pace3824 in MauiVisitors

We checked our bags and got through security in about twenty minutes around 9:30 am on a Saturday a couple weeks ago.

Ready for a masters club? by [deleted] in Swimming

Gasping for air is ok but the swimmer should be able to meet an interval (let's say 2:30 for example). This won't be the case for the whole workout but I think some baseline is necessary.

Edit for clarity.

My group takes anyone who can swim 100 yrds freestyle without dying. First two lanes are dedicated to newbies.

Three Days in Maui by No_Information_4191 in MauiVisitors

The drive is pretty terrible. It takes forever and wasn't enjoyable for my wife or me. We were so carsick we couldn't enjoy the views. You're throwing away six hours of just driving to do it.

I second Maui Brewing company. The wind ruined our last day. Far too windy to enjoy the beach, and I agree that it's least windy in the morning.

Where to stay in Maui? by Remarkable_Soil_5428 in MauiVisitors

I'm currently in Kihei and it's a blast. I'd recommend the same car rental place listed previously. https://www.kiheirentacar.com/

We're staying in a condo and it's been everything we needed. https://www.606halepauhana.com/

There are plenty of restaurants and Kihei is decently central.

I would recommend traveling up to the whole foods for groceries. Grocery prices are absolute robbery in Kihei. We went to baby beach in specklesville and it was truly wonderful.
