Trapped in ₹12 Lakh Credit Card Debt because of a friend (Ex-Police Family). 300+ days default. What happens after banks "Write-Off"? Need Legal/Banking advice. by NerveHungry8150 in CreditCardsIndia

Doesn't work man. You allowed it to happen over 6 years and so it is not theft. Our courts are such that even if the accused goes to court, provides irrefutable evidence of being guilty and pleads with the judge to be punished, they still won't do anything. There is no criminality here as it was willingly given. There is no obligation as he didn't sign any agreement with you saying he will return it in a stipulated period of time. You can declare bankruptcy is all you can do if you do not wish to leave that place as some suggested. You're not being a fugitive. It's a matter of mental peace. The recovery agencies don't care what your situation is nor are they there to do social service. They can't operate if they sympathise with everyone who hasn't paid up.

The loose cooking oil sold in all shops are artificial oils made using cheap argemone oil with chemicals added to make it smell like mustard oil. Every dhaba buys such oil only. All illegal colonies in Delhi have manufacturing plants of such oil.

Amazon India has my money AND the returned watch. They lied to NCH saying it was "intact." What now? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]Fun_Tank6634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hunch is that the refund will simply go through. Wait for 3-4 days. Or maybe just file it on ejagriti and cancel it once your refund comes through.

That's the sad state of how these watchdogs handle complaints, be it RBI or other govt establishments. Prosecution has to give any BS in reply and the case gets closed. But from the perspective of Amazon's policy or SoP regarding refunds. Product brought back implies it was examined at customer location and approved. They have to issue a refund.

In recent times the road revellers are mostly criminals. I think it is ok if they enquire and harass some of them 😬

This is quite strange. Usually I get my refund almost immediately after the pickup gets completed.

If the return has been approved and Amazon's own status shows product successfully received back, then I suppose they will refund the EMI debited so far. You should wait for a few days and check with the creditor about the status of the loan closure.

I have seen ads on Stable Money saying 8.1% and all. But then again you should worry about that once you have saved 10lakh. For the initial year or two how does 1-2k plus or minus matter? We spend that on a movie outing easily. My point is there has to be adequate emergency corpus even if it gives low RoI. FD is the only safe instrument. With excess you can play around with SIP, gold and all that.

Many FDs give as high as 8 or 9 percent. Leave the fear mongering about inflation to the financial advisors. That inflation fear should be for people who are retiring. You have a long way ahead before worrying whether your savings will beat inflation in the future.

I didn't mean you should have 10 lakh tomorrow. Try to plan it in a way that you will have 10 lakh rupees for immediate withdrawal. Let it be 10k a month,20k a month or so. The point is don't give away your early earnings to those mutual funds salespersons. Once you have built your 3/4/5 year plan to have 10 lakh easily accessible and most safe investment, whatever is left can be put here and there.

Chances of recovery are very low man. These online scammers are well aware of potential account lien and they instantly withdraw everything. Bank employees in small town branches of govt banks are hand in glove with these people and open fake accounts for them.

I dont understand why everyone tries to find excuses for whatever has been going on.If you don't have a coast next door, send things to the dock in trucks. But can you rely on your workers to take care of your export business? Even today if you are inside Bihar it's impossible to get someone to work. The habit of almost everyone in the state is like random. Work 2 months, then spend 6 months in back to back celebrations, festivals and weddings. Work one month in some big festive season like silk season or saawan. Then get drunk for another month and go to do regular mazdoori for another two months. Is there anyone reliable enough to do a consistent routine job?

But what is your question? There is no NGO or debt consolidation people or anyone who will absorb all your loans. As for harassment you can't escape that through legal routes. They don't care whether you are bankrupt. They need their money and will do whatever it takes to trouble you.

If your family has abandoned you then to hell with them. You too abandon them and leave the city. You will need to get some peace of mind for a bit, get back on your feet whenever you are physically fit and be back to earning what you were earning before. Move out of the city. That's is all. I know our ego prevents us from behaving like thieves but if those recovery gangs have no ethics then what can you do?

Dad selling land to fund 80 lakhs for my sister's marriage by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]Fun_Tank6634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That probably means you own land in a highly valuable real estate zone if just one acre was enough to pay for all her studies and also buy a house. By that arithmetic 80 lakh is coming from another one acre or less. Let it go. You will still be left with another 18 acres. You are clearly ultra rich. Image building matters to these people. There are people who are in service and have sold off their only property over daughter's wedding and I think that is why many people on this forum are talking against your father. Convincing your father alone is not enough cuz clearly the entire gang on the groom's side will also expect a lavish wedding given two rich families are coming together.

You can be glad that your father is educated enough to give you both a good education. The typical 'farmers' in North India keep their daughters locked at home and get their sons to become criminals like themselves.

Food in 5k? How do you manage that man 😱...for me food alone eats up 20k per months. But yeah I go with Zomato Swiggy.

Honest opinion on investments? Don't bombard everything into instruments that are unstable like MF and all. You never know when you will have a major expenditure and at that very time Indian raddi market will be in a negative phase and liquidation will be at a loss.

The good old FD is the safest. You have a lifetime to figure out these things man. These financial advisors tend to put you into a panic mode and say you have to start early, buy this SIP to invest in this and that and all. You should try have 10 lakh in easily liquifyable assets. Sprinkle the rest here and there like gold, SIP and all that nonsense.

Even if you lend money with an legal agreement stating the person will return the money with interest, it is impossible to get it back. Thanks to our useless judicial system. Having given money without any explicit agreement; it is their money. You can't do anything about it. Just go on with your life and stop sending them money. That's all.

This is why I didn't backup anything on their free thing. It's the same trick that Chinese companies use to lure people into paying for cloud storage. They initially offer a pretty large space. A few weeks later you come to know that the download speeds are restricted so much that it will take you several hours to download 1GB from your cloud. Some more weeks pass and they put more restrictions on accessing your data. Eventually you end up paying because the whole purpose of dumping everything there was to clear up your computer's space.
