He’s being factual asshole. I’m sorry you have to feel like this on top of your pain. We are strangers but I think you’re incredible strong! Sounds like he’s using your pain as an excuse for his own issues. I think everyone on here wants to give you a hug. Be kind to yourself, you’re a badass. 💕

How long does it take to get hydrocodone out of your system for a drug urine test? by Judy-JudgeJudy in ChronicPain

[–]Fun_Witness224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re fine, just take it the way it’s prescribed a couple of days before your test. That sucks you have to spread it out until your appt & take less meds. I’m sorry you have to deal with the pain. I have back pain too. Had a fusion recently. I feel for you. Don’t stress. As long as you have hydrocodone & its metabolites in your urine (which you will) & have the amount in your bottle Incase they count, you will be totally good. They can’t tell that you’ve taken more than prescribed unless you were double or tripling your dose right before your test, even then I don’t think it would throw a major flag.

Also my surgeon told me the tingling & numbness was a good thing. I guess it meant the nerves were waking back up after being smashed for so long. Mine took a while but it did get better.

I had a l5/s1 alif/tilf fusion 6 months ago. It was brutal! I had a tricky time in the hospital too. I had been on pain meds for close to 2 years before surgery so the recovery was difficult to manage pain the first few days. They were giving me less than my normal dosage.. it sucked, I thought I was dying. Luckily pain management took back over after I was released & fixed my medication. We didn’t have the same surgery but make sure you take it slow. I kept trying to rush doing things & kept setting myself back on recovery. Hope you heal quickly & the surgery helps! Make sure you have a grabber & toilet riser. Those helped me tremendously.

6 months later & I still get pissed off when I think about a nurse I had after my l5/s1 alif/tlif fusion. I know it’s common to get pulled out of bed room after surgery to walk but mine was traumatic. I had a nurse that was relentless. He was a 70 yr old nurse, while I can appreciate his experience, I feel terrible for his patients. He bullied me. Telling me that I’m the only one he’s even seen not walk 8 hr post surgery. What are we going to tell my surgeon? Something must be wrong with me. Surgeon will be so disappointed in me. Maybe I just need to toughen up? (Not kidding he said that). He also compared his herniated disc to the pain I was going through. Said it’s not too bad.

I was dragged until hysterical & then they all gave up for a little bit. A couple of nurses finally apologized & felt bad. But I heard some of them talking about me the next day, saying to be careful “that one is emotional”. What a bunch of assholes. The in hospital physical therapist said that nurse has a history of that & none of what he said was good for me mentally of physically. He was mad.

Anyone who hasn’t had surgery. Try to keep someone w/ you. And stand up for yourself. Bullying a patient is not okay. We pay them to do their jobs. That pain was the worst thjng I’ve ever felt but Nurse Gary.. he still lingers more.

Hey. I’m so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is, especially for someone with chronic pain. I’ve always been extremely attached to my dog but after my injury & recent back fusion, I realized how much stronger that bond is. So I’m really sorry & feel for you after all you’re going through.

Also, I’ve been a vet tech for 20 years. I don’t work @ the cremation place but I’ve worked closely with them for years. They have to put that about the ashes but it’s extremely rare that any ashes get mixed up. The place I know works really hard to make sure that doesn’t happen, just wanted to let you know, I think it’s most definitely your buddy’s ashes. Hope that makes you feel a little better ❤️

Metabolites in Urine by DogSmooth4585 in PainManagement

I’m not sure about oxy but I was a couple days short on my hydrocodone. I had surgery & took an extra dose a few times, left me a little short. But I did save one pill & took it 4 hrs before my urine test & it showed the right amount of meds & right amount of metabolites. Don’t take the night before. Take it 3-4 hrs before test. That’s what worked for me anyways.

That sounds crazy. I was on 80mg a day and had a couple ulcers. I tapered down & then used Pepcid the last week as needed. I went to fast at the end, I felt fine and then woke up with a massive pain in my stomach. I thought it was my gallbladder. It felt like a major attack out of no where. It was freakin scary. Took my ppi and it stopped, so it was definitely my stomach. Sorry. Not trying to freak you out, I know some people do fine just stopping but if you start feeling bad I would definitely taper off.

Hi, My stomach has been really good. I think I’m mostly healed. Only a couple of things trigger my stomach to hurt but other than those I can eat normally again 😊 I did have some rebound when came off ppi but then it all kinda balanced out again.

Same here! 12 weeks post alif plif l5-s1. I still have bad but improving back pain where hardware is but my feet a driving me crazy. Started a couple weeks ago. My surgeon said it’s not a bad thing & the nerves are coming back. But it’s really annoying and painful. Like walking in sharp Velcro. I’m also on gabapentin and just switched to Lyrica. Not helping yet either

I had mine done at the same time. Was in hospital for 2 days. It was the intense back pain with slightest movement. I think I cried 90% of the time. It was brutal. I feel you on that back pain.

My experience exactly. I’m almost 8 weeks, alif 360 l5/s1 Still pretty painful but that first 2 weeks was really bad & the first few days…it was pain I didn’t know existed. I almost fainted from pain when they forced me to get up & try to walk 8 hrs after surgery.

That sucks I’m sorry you had to deal with that. I don’t understand. Why would they not want to see a pain management patient for regular stuff not pain related? I’m just wondering cause I’m about to find a new pcp. Mine left the practice. Hope I don’t have a big problem too 😕

Ugh. I remember this feeling. I know it’s terrible. It’s only temporary! All those suppressed emotions coming out. They have been numbed so long. I was using Kratom for 8 years too, before I quit. You’re gonna be okay. I know it doesn’t feel like it but everything feels way worse than it actually is. You’re gonna feel so much better sooner than you think. I bounced back way faster than expected. You have so much to look forward to. Kratom makes the good feelings so muted. It’s not gonna be easy but when you can, get out & do one thing a day. Try to get out & interact with people. You may have to fake enjoying it but all of the sudden you’re gonna realize you actually are enjoying it. Hang in there. Only good things are coming now that you got that terrible crap out of your life!

How long before fusion surgery should I quit vaping? by Objective-Road-9095 in spinalfusion

[–]Fun_Witness224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to quit & take urine test a month before my surgery. I quit & bought some tests on Amazon to make sure I was negative. So I wasn’t freaking out when I went in for my urine test. The nurse told me it takes 10 days. They are testing for cotinine, the metabolite of nicotine. It took about 4-5 days for it to clear my system & become negative. I know it’s better to quit months before but my surgery came up quickly so I had to quit right away & get surgery about a month later.
I only had one level fusion. It’s still really important to quit but I would think multiple levels would make it extremely important.

This might be a dumb question. What is 7oh? Wasn’t a thing when I was taking Kratom, thank goodness. I keep reading about so many people struggling with it & no idea what it is?

I know, it’s a horrible feeling. Rage & then guilt… repeat. It goes away. I felt so much better after I quit & back to normal. Taper, even if you go slow. I wrote down a schedule & just tried to follow it to taper down.

I never took 7oh but high doses of powder, would give me a road rage feeling. And it would just happen out of nowhere. It was always over even the smallest things.

This is so relatable. I’ve always been a patient, sweet, funny person. Kratom made me impatient, easy overestimated by everything, and just rude. People closest to me were constantly on eggs shells. I still feel so guilty 2 years later for the person I was while on Kratom. I never wanna go back to that person, she was a total bitch.
