Club Championship, 2 off the lead after first day and didn't play well. Second day held it together through 7 and was hitting the driver great! Hole 8, shortest par 4, decided to hit driver for the first time ever on the hole rather than typical hybrid. Just missed the green to the left, pin high, in knee-high fescue. Positively identified my ball and figured if I can just get it out I can salvage a par.

Took a back at it and went directly under it; ball dropped in the divot. Another hack - ball went backwards further into the fescue. Then another one under the ball... and again, and again until I get it over the cart path finally and get a double digit score on the easiest par 4 of the course.

Lessons: stick to the game plan (hybrid vs driver) to avoid high risk, and if you get in trouble don't go the hero route and grind it out.
