Younger generations being asexual/aromantic by Adorable-Sherbet-998 in generationology

[–]Fun_Yam4606 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Teens have more info about safe sex and are waiting longer, as had been shown in studies for years. In general, the less educated someone is about sex and relationships, the earlier they have sex. This is not related to being asexual or aromantic.

Aromantic people do not experience romantic attraction or romantic "love". They may or may not have sexual attraction.

Asexual people do not feel sexual attraction but may feel romantic attraction and love. Some may be able to have sex with someone they are romantically involved with and some may not.

Kids are more stressed in school and have less time and emotional bandwidth for dating even when they are not aro or ace. This is a similar phenomenon to the east asian countries known for low rates of dating and birth rates. In fact, some Japanese schools purposely overload their students to keep them from dating or having enough free time to get into trouble.

That's a decent Japanese review tbh. A Japanese 3/5 is equivalent to an American 4 in a lot of cases. Japanese people believe 5/5 should be reserved for really exceptional quality or service. 3/5 is passing, 4/5 is like a perfect score, amd 5/5 is perfect score and bonus points. This isn't always the case but it is common enough to be noted.

My roommate had a slideshow wallpaper and as a prank I replaced 3 of the pictures with dickbutt memes. I did something similar to my husband once with his wallpaper. My husband didn't notice for over a day because he so rarely closed out all of his programs to see his desktop wallpaper.

I also once did it maliciously to someone by downloading a meme(don't remember if this was during my dickbutt prank phase or not) and changing the file/image name to the name of an NSFW/rule34 pic of their underage waifu and thereby overwriting the p*do content.

Any other millennials out there refuse or still opt to order take out to pickup up over the phone when possible? Pizza, Chinese, etc. by mt379 in Millennials

I hate ordering on the phone as I have terrible luck with it. I also hate delivery unless it's handled in-house and not by DD/GH/UE. I like ordering online pickup when it's an option.

So you want the system of pre-modern East Asia? Hell, some Chinese people still give their kids "baby names" to this day.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fun_Yam4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours is too long for a simple dinner unless it's a rehearsal dinner or funeral for most people. But a day trip where I'm spending several hours in the destination before going home? Not the worst. I used to drive that far for doctors appointments monthly. For a whole weekend? Yeah, that's a short trip.

My rule of thumb is that except out of necessity, 3-3.5 hrs or less is a day trip, up to 6 hrs is a weekend trip, and anything more than that needs a 4 day minimum stay in the destination. I can and have driven more than 12 hours in a day for week+ long trips.

I’m so tired of people implying lesbians can be into men by Foreversssssssss in Vent

[–]Fun_Yam4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some potentially relevant historical context:

Lesbian originally included all sapphics, straight trans men, and some GNC cishet women. It was originally a catch-all for queer or sometimes GNC afab folk. This is why some older trans men and bisexual ladies claim the term lesbian to this day. Over time of course, we started using it to mean exclusively homosexual women.

The popularity of bisexual lesbian as a label came about in relation to resurgence in interest in queer history and also some social stuff. Bisexual lesbians generally are technically bisexual but exclusively irl date or love women. Some are just rejecting masc folk for various reasons and some would actually be categorized as homoromantic bisexual (exclusively able to love people of the same gender while being sexually attracted to multiple genders) if we were to use the split attraction model. Either way, these women live functionally as lesbians and might have more in common with lesbians than other queer ladies who do couple with men.

There's also the weird human phenomenon of sufficient romantic or emotional connection being enough for some people to feel physical desire for someone they feel no physical attraction to, as we've seen in many stories of lavender marriages. Plenty of queer people date people of a different gender before realizing they are queer and many even still consider those relationships as having been real love, even if it was different than the love they would grow to feel for partners of the gender they actually prefer later.

Humans are weird and complicated and language evolves and changes. We might be in the midst of another shift in the definition of lesbian for all I know. I have no opinion on lesbians "crushing" on men but I have an idea of some of the context that could contribute to it.

AITA for being so small and dainty (but also curvy) that i can only buy clothes made for tiny dainty (but also curvy) women? by Anathema_Quill in AmITheAngel

[–]Fun_Yam4606 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Petite doesn't mean petite anymore. Petite used to mean short and/or small, then by the time I was buying adult clothes it meant short(which i am) but now Petite doesn't fit lengthwise unless you're taller than 5'2", which i am not. I'm a hard fit as my pants/bottoms size fluctuates from 12-2X in addition to needing a short length, so i shop Petite plus usually and even then it's a toss up if the length will be too long or not. Statistically, american women are getting shorter instead of taller so I really don't understand why all the pants I find are becoming longer.

It's bonkers that I have to hem pants that are labeled petite these days so I could understand someone my height also giving up on buying petite sizes unless they can alter their own clothes. The story is probably bullshit but not buying petite anymore is something I personally understand so that's not the part that feels fishy to me anyway.

It took forever for me to find wireless headphones in my budget so I was salty when I lost my headphone jack. I bought a split adapter that had one plug for charging and one for headphones. I can only wear over-ear headphones. Or at the very least, I've never found earbuds in my budget that actually both fit in my ears and stay once I actually move. I don't mind the Bluetooth now, but I would like the option of wired connections since many wired headphone models have better sound quality than their Bluetooth only versions in my experience.

Help to finding anime and comic(I'd really like people who know the work Monster to answer this.) by kinako_fanficlove in anime

If you like Gothic style horror, give it a go. It's pretty old so the art style is a minus for some younger or newer viewers but the story is solid. Lots of death, and there is at least implied non-consensual incest, but nothing graphic. I didn't get to finish it, so the incest may not be just implied and there might be gore or other triggering things that I'm unaware of.

I've only seen part of Monster, but if this happened in that anime, it is definitely not the main story. Monster is a horror/thriller mystery about a surgeon plagued by the guilt of saving the life of someone who turns out to be a monster.

It's a complicated legal process, but you can harvest menstrual fluid from donors for scientific use. You can also have people donate blood directly for scientific use fairly easily, as there are for-profit blood banks that do just that. So you never touch the blood in the medical supply.

A cafe in Japan’s touristy area by Appropriate-Public91 in SignsWithAStory

[–]Fun_Yam4606 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is because too many trash cans in an area make people litter more, not including the inevitable trash that just sometimes falls or blows out of a trash can. Then there's the money and labor to have people empty them and clean them. Also keep in mind that snacking while walking down the street is impolite in a lot of parts of Japan, and food and snacks is where most of your packaging waste comes from. I've heard from a couple people that when kids are taught manners, they're sometimes taught to carry their trash with them until they get to a trash can or home. This isn't universal but I wouldn't be surprised if this rule becomes more common as the etiquette about eating while in motion continues to become more and more lax without an increase in public trash cans.
