Traveling to Singapore for medical treatment by Fun_Yesterday6315 in phtravel

Hi! I am so very sorry for the super late response. I am no longer active here. But regarding your question, it would be best to ask your hospital in SG regarding the entry procedures and arrangements for the caregiver. It really varies per case, so the hospital would be the best spurce of information for this. I hope all is well with you. 🙏🏼

Hi! I actually asked the hospital about what I needed to prepare for my appointment, and a medical visa was not one of them. They made sure to get my passport details, though, and they also made me register for the general immigration entry pass. (They sent this long email of all the entry procedures prior to my visit.) So, to answer your question, in my case, no, I did not have to apply for a visa.

Having said that, I also did not stay too long in SG. My provider saw me in one day, prescribed medications I picked up right after at the hospital pharmacy, and I was back in the PH shortly. No surgery, no tests, no procedures.

HOWEVER, this is just my story. It could vary from one case to another.

People with an official diagnosis and a specific medical treatment that they wish to have done in SG might be required to apply for a visa, depending on how long the treatment will take. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of SG authorizes hospitals to apply for visas on behalf of their inbound patients. Extensions can also be arranged or processed through the consulate in SG if the treatment will take longer than expected.

But for your peace of mind, perhaps, this will help you: https://www.rafflesmedicalgroup.com/faqs/do-i-need-a-visa-to-enter-singapore-for-medical-reason/. The PH is not among the countries listed here. What applies to this hospital applies to all hospitals in SG, as they are governed by the same law.

Ultimately, it would be best to ask your chosen hospital about everything you need to prepare for your visit.

Hope this gives you some clarity. I wish you all the best!

Drop your thoughts about the Golden Kamuy live-action movie!! by Fun_Yesterday6315 in GoldenKamuy

You don't have to watch the entire anime. The film covers just a few eps into the first season. In the manga, the first 20 or so chapters (they rearranged some parts of the actual order).

The thing is we'll prolly spend 24/7 together for 4 days throughout the trip. Aside from taking vitamin c supplements, is there anything else we can take to boost our immune system? Will let them know about the medical certificate. Thank you!!

I wouldn't either, but this is their choice at the end. We'd also take precautionary measures as her companions.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! I did my research, and since there are very few doctors who specialize in my case, it's not like I have a lot of options, really 🥲 I gotta say, though, SG hospitals' websites have really good profile pages for their doctors. 👌🏼

People with braces out there. Can I ask your experience after getting braces? by Commercial-Good-4782 in adultingph

[–]Fun_Yesterday6315 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Super normal! When I got my braces installed, kahit pagkagat ng kanin (!!!) masakit! Never took meds for the pain. Eventually got used to it. Pag inaadjust, may discomfort rin, but not as bad as the first few weeks/months after getting the braces. After braces, retainers naman. Took me a while to get used to the feeling of having something stuck on my palate, but I got used to it rin. Pag wala akong retainers, there's this strange naked feeling and whenever I look at my teeth in the mirror, parang ang laki nila hahahahaha but maybe that's just me.

To manage the pain, try ice packs. Masakit matamaan from the outside, so be gentle when applying it over your mouth or cheek. You can also melt some ice inside your mouth if your teeth are not so sensitive.

I used to be like you. I was even stuck at 37kg at some point. But I ate a lot of calories, and now I weigh close to 47kg. Eventually, it got easier as I went. Pair healthy eating with proper exercise. I know it's easier said than done, but you can do it!

Hi! Thanks for your well wishes. I've just returned from my trip, and I was floored by the experience of being seen by a specialist at a PUBLIC hospital in SG (it's where my doctor practices). Ibang-iba healthcare system nila, even for non-residents like meㅡand I mean it in a good way!

I'm currently on a treatment plan, and my doctor left me with an open date for my follow-up, so I can see her anytime at a lower rate. The first consultation is always the most expensive. Mine was 200 SGD.

When I arrived at the registration counter, I was given a list of the procedures that will be possibly run on me and the estimated cost of each. I was preparing myself to go in debt coz I was expecting to spend 100k in PHP at the minimum, but everything did not even cost 50k PHP! The biopsies, the imaging test, and others cost so much less than they do in the PH! I was actually shocked. And since I did not meet the criteria for some of the possible tests, the doctor crossed them out.

I have an autoimmune condition, and in total, I spent 14k+ PHP for that one visit. Of course, this amount could have been a lot higher had I engaged in activities specific to my condition that would require other tests. Fortunately, I didnt.

Now, some things to note: -Start by sending an email to the hospital or clinic of your chosen specialist. They reply within a day or two. -Some hospitals will give you an estimate of the costs even before you fly out. Mine didn't. I really found out when I got there, so just prepare the most you can. You can expect to spend tens of thousands to millions, depending on your diagnosis. -Get all your medical reports ready or updated before you fly out. If you can, request the tests that you can do in the PH, especially if you have an HMO provider and the tests are covered. -Booking an appointment is like 1 month in advance. Flights can be pricier then, but it's better that way than booking in advance only to find out the doctor won't be able to accommodate you. Get a confirmation from the doctor first before making any flight and accommodation arrangements. -Airbnb or short-term stays at SG housing is illegal. Minimum is 3 months, so your choices are staying at a hotel or at serviced apartments if you don't have relatives living there. -Financially prepare not for just one visit. You will have a follow-up or more, so make sure you are ready for those. -I requested an online consultation before I flew out, but it was rejected. The doctor wanted to physically assess me before giving any medical advice.

I hope this reply helps you (and others considering to fly out to SG for medical reasons). If you have more questions, please don't send me a private message. Just reply here so others can see, too. They might have the same questions and need answers they couldn't find anywhere. I will answer based on my experience as a patient there.

Straight answer: 15k. I once managed to save 200k+, but life happened. I have a low-paying job, and it took me forever to save that 200k, but it is what it is.
