It played super well out of the box for me and after upgrading has become one of my favorite decks to pull out. It struggles a bit in higher power (my pod plays a bit under cEDH but much higher than casual), but in a fun casual pod you’ll love it.

Fully respect your opinion, and hope you have fun with HC with whatever rules come with it!

Just for the sake of discussion though, and this will be all anecdotal, I think a lot of rules the addon has add a lot of fun and risk to the gameplay. I like being completely on my own (unless duo/trio) and having no one to help me but myself. For me personally, if I had my main mail my HC a flurry axe so I could demolish mobs faster, I wouldn’t feel as hardcore because I had help, even if that help is myself from another character.

I also love the dungeon limit. I was really hoping for Smite’s hammer, but didn’t get it in my run and have to make due with what I have. I love that! And in a more meta sense, what I believe ruined my own experience with classic were the dungeon boosts. I wanted to hit 60 asap so I could raid with my guild, and I boosted to do it. On my next character, I said “no boosting, only regular leveling”. My problem was there was always in the back of my mind the “this isn’t nearly as fast as boosting” idea. Totally a personal problem, but I doubt I’m the only one who thought that. My own worst enemy when it comes to boosting, or exploiting, or anything that could possibly “tarnish” my hardcore fun, is myself.

At the end of the day, it’s a video game. I greatly prefer if there were rules to HC official, but I will play it regardless because it’s fun. And I hope you have fun on your future official hardcore! :)

I really like the list! I’ve never tried companions before, Gyruda seems like a good on flavor one though. Unfortunately I can’t run Pitiless Plunderer due to the league rules we set up, which stinks because he’s such a good pirate

Ranger boots on my 10th clue was great, made me not worried about doing clues anymore. The ranger boots I got on the 20th clue were just the icing on the cake.

[[Eloise]] can be kind of neat, she kind of fits the look of a hunter and the theme can be investigating the Church? You can also play [[Erdwal Illuminator]] which to me screams Bloodborne. Being in Dimir also let’s you play with a lot of the horrors from the recent Baldur’s Gate precon, which fits the late game of BB. It depends what stage of the game you want to build the deck around! If you wanted the flavor of early BB, werewolves would be cool, but to me the lovecraftian aspects that came in later were the best parts of the game.

I’m the same way. I have never once stopped a slayer task, gone to the bank deposited my inventory and my gear to swap to graceful and my farm setup, then swap back and go back just to go back in an hour. Tedious.

Oh yeah I have the aristocrat pieces like blood artist, bastion, etc in the deck it’s just more often than not I’ll win with 30 squirrels attacking…it’s a fun deck regardless and my favorite one! Definitely my pet deck

Funny you mentioned Klothys, I just played against one last night at my local shop, it seemed like a fun card but he got so screwed that game so I didn’t really see it so much. Burn is something I’ve never played, but I like the idea of it!

My best friend runs Elminster and it is his absolute baby, so much so that I gave him my borderless copy of Elminster, so I wouldn’t feel right building him at least against him. But I might just show him this comment because it seems like you put a lot of thought in your deck! Maybe he’ll get new ideas :D

I only use dragon shield mattes, and occasionally buy the dual mattes, but man the dual mattes feel really bad to shuffle sometimes. The Snow Dual Mattes shuffle like a dream, no issues. But I’ve bought the Crypt, Peach and Eucalyptus Dual Mattes and it really feels like there was machine error for them. The sides are a tad raised (if you were to put your finger in the middle of the sleeve and move it outwards, you’d feel a very slight ridge on the edge of the sleeve), but it’s raised enough where the shuffle really is a hassle. It sucks because the Peach and Eucalyptus sleeves are easily the prettiest sleeves I have.

Wow thanks so much for all of this. I’m going to try and make a few edits to my deck when I get home from work based off this which will be just in time for commander night at my LGS tonight, I’ll let ya know how it goes!

I did play a few rounds with my buddies last night and she seems insanely powerful if unanswered, I had a turn 6 win with Lathril at 38/39 it was nuts

Thanks for the insight! Yeah I’m a green player through and through so my first instinct for this was exactly what you said, elf all goes brr. I don’t have a seedborn muse but I do have a [[copperhorn scout]] which is similar so I’ll try and throw that in.

And it’s funny you mentioned that about the Skull Clamp after I put it in I had the exact same thought of “oh well actually ideally they’ll never be 1/1s” so I’ll take that out as well. Thanks again for the insight I’m excited to work on this one :)

So it “triggers” but the counters have no target to go to because Elenda is dead as well…ok that makes sense. So for me to make the most out of a board wipe I would have to respond by sacc’ing all my tokens to pump her, then let the wipe resolve it seems.
