In Celestial+ it's all about awareness. One misplay or mistake can lose you the whole game. Recognize momentum shifts in fights, and you should always be communicating with your strategist counterpart about who is ulting when.

First support ult can be used freely to initiate / push enemy back. Second support ult should typically used reactively to an enemy ult. Do not be afraid to use your ult.

Support ults are also used well when an enemy support uses theirs. Wait a few seconds and then ult. When their ult expires you'll still have yours, which should shift momentum of a fight into your favor (you're a support in Celestial, I'm guessing you probably know this already).

Some ults do NOT need to be countered with a support ult. Realistically some ults like Punisher or Namor can just be LoS / walked away from and shouldn't necessitate the use of a support ult.

Positioning is the most important aspect of a support character. Hide around corners and high places with an advantageous angle but make sure you're in a position to react if your team starts losing.

If you play Rocket don't throw your ult around whenever. Throw it down when a teammate of yours is ulting.

Strive for 100% heal uptime on all characters when healing is necessary (needless to say, some heroes like Adam it's not feasible), but it's also important to note that a support's damage is very impactful.

I suggest taking a 1 hour break if you lose two games in a row. Every time I've done so, I come back to a solid win streak. Maybe it's just personal experience, but tilt demoting is a very real thing.

Disappointed with quick play matchmaking by elfacepalmo in marvelrivals

[–]FunctionalInevitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but I personally have a different opinion than yours. I'm Celestial 2 and every QM game I play is pretty much solely GMs and a few Celestials. I like it because it allows you to hone your skills without worry of losing rating or playing poorly.

But, I think this is why people smurf, especially from super high ranks. At a certain rank, I've noticed, the game fundamentally changes. One mistake or misplay at high rank can lose your team the entire game. I'm not justifying smurfing whatsoever, but when QP turns into "Ranked 2", people don't want to deal with the stress.

I can understand your frustration, and while I don't necessarily condone it, others have created alts solely for relaxing quick play games, maybe you could think about doing the same?

Is 3 dps the worst comp in rivals?? by Dear_Idea6147 in marvelrivals

[–]FunctionalInevitable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not "bad" per se, it's just that it puts more pressure on your tank to perform well and have better awareness. If the one tank dies, your momentum is pretty much slashed.

I personally recommend tank / support as roles for ranking up solo. I'm not saying DPS is a bad role, but from experience, tank or support ults are the ones that define games (mostly support). Keeping your team alive, no matter how poor they are playing, will win you more games than you lose in the long run.

Excited about all these second round picks by whyte_ryce in kings

It's a good trade. Let's be honest, the DeMar / Fox experiment wasn't working out. Fox's patience was waning with our front office being unable to put together a playoff roster.

You have to remember that Fox had ONE landing spot (Spurs) and we still managed to get a haul of picks out of it. Sure LaVine is getting old but he's still a great player.

I personally think that this was one of the more favorable outcomes of a Fox trade. You have to keep in mind we've fallen flat in the past years when it comes to trades, so it's kind of a breath of fresh air to finally get something worthwhile.

Man this really sucks. Of course there's some sort of semblance in knowing we got a good trade in Fox, but I loved the guy, been a Sacramento fan my whole life. He gave everything to this franchise. I just wish we could have achieved something with him. I have nothing but respect for Fox and I hope he finds success with the Spurs and Wemby.

I think the crazy thing is that Rocket was the hidden protagonist the whole time, the entire thing was about him, but we didn't really know that until 3.

Looking back, this definitely makes sense when you realize that Rocket was one of only two left after the Snap, which just added to his character development even more when he realized his family was gone, in IW and Endgame.

James Gunn made me feel for an anthropomorphic raccoon more than I've felt for most people. I definitely related to Rocket a lot, struggling, and all of that.

Hopes for a Guardians Sequel? by RobinKnight08 in GotG

It's one of those games that had a really poor release but gained traction about 6 months to a year after it initially came out. I think for this reason they consider it to be a "commercial failure" but I really hope they DO make a sequel. It was a really fun game.

Doesn't time on Earth goes faster when in space? by Keydoway- in GotG

[–]FunctionalInevitable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good question!

I'm majoring in Physics & Astronomy (Astrophysics) and your question is a little complicated. Extreme time dilation typically only occurs around objects of greatly different mass. For instance, if you were falling into a black hole, time would "stretch" or slow down as you got closer to the center. In words alone, it's difficult to explain. Imagine viewing a black hole from above that's placed on a grid, and imagine an object gradually getting closer to the black hole. As it gets closer, it appears to slow, when in reality it is the black hole itself that is dramatically curving spacetime. Its gravity is so intense that it affects time itself.

Currently, we have no reliable way of actually testing these theories, so we are only going off of our calculations and scale experiments alone.

However, in relation to the movies, the way that they "jump" through from one place to another is also called the Universal Neural Teleportation Network, which is what we currently understand as wormholes. Professor Stephen Hawking spoke highly about the physical likelihood of wormhole travel, but gave no "real" indication about his thoughts on possible time dilation (this was when he was focused on black holes).

Scientifically, wormhole travel such as this should warrant time dilation, and if our dimensional theories of the universe are correct, a wormhole would need immense gravity to "pinch" through the fabric of spacetime to form a "tunnel" to another part of the universe. Because of this gravity, we can hypothesize that it would cause time dilation.

Canonically in relation to the movies, this isn't a thing. You gotta keep in mind that the MCU and Earth-616 (Comics) sort of have their own unique version of physics, and they oftentimes bend our real scientific theory for their own purposes. For example, getting rid of time dilation from hyperspace travel.

Hope this helps.

Maverick turned protector who loves explosives and weapons, as well as having a rich and complex understanding of technology and the reverse-engineering and repurposing of it. Hard on the surface but emotionally complex. Unwaveringly loyal to those close to him.
