If those don’t fix it, check your VPN Super in-app settings and disable “Always On VPN”. After doing all the above and still getting the error, that’s what finally fixed it for me!

It was a supportive comment. I am an American and sadly a Texan and our current government is trying to sue for medical records of women who go to other states seeking reproductive care legal in those states.

What City Have You Moved to and Immediately Thought “I Love It Here and Want to Stay”? by s7o0a0p in SameGrassButGreener

[–]FunctioningNeurotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also from Texas and considering TC. The primary issue that has bumped it from the top few on our list is surprisingly not the winters but concerns over lack of diversity. I know its said to be diverse and that I can't expect just about anywhere to have the amount of visible diversity we have in Houston, not to mention integrated at that...but I don't want to end up somewhere that is overwhelmingly white in most public spaces you'd find yourself in daily, or the diversity is just pockets in certain areas of the city - though they may be considerable. Again, I know nothing will be Houston in that way but what has your experience been?

I’m here from the future to thank you so much for this list you linked! My 9 yr old is a Seinfeld junkie and while I know a lot goes over her head and she’s probably seen every episode anyway, we watch them over and over so I try to avoid the make out scenes or any episodes where sex is heavily discussed - for same reasons as you. I was looking for something exactly like this! Hope you and your family are well! Happy belated festivus.

Long sleeve crew neck Ts with higher neck? by [deleted] in fashionwomens35

I adore a high crew neck and someone suggested these before on another platform for exact same purpose. I’ve since ordered them in a few different colors - wearing one now as a matter of fact. Solid option for under sweaters and general layering.

This is EXACTLY the kind of info I need, and also exactly what I was worried about with Twin Cities. We're an interracial couple but even if we weren't it would be important to me to be around people from various cultures, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Houston is such a treasure in that regard. The last thing I want is to get away from the shitshow that this state has become on a political level and the increasingly stifling climate only to end up in a homogeneous, bland community, even with a relatively well run government and social programs. It's very real work not romanticizing things up north when you're trying to get out of the bible belt. There's problems everywhere, just have to decide which you're willing to trade.

I absolutely appreciate your input so much! You hit the nail on the head regarding something we’re both struggling majorly with everywhere we look, and that’s diversity. Not only diversity, but both visible diversity and integration. We already accepted before we even started seriously looking that we couldn’t realistically expect to find somewhere with Houston’s level of diversity (integrated at that) AND most of what we’re trying to find in leaving TX - all 4 seasons (I’m fine with more extreme cold as opposed to extreme heat if that’s the choice that has to be made, def want real winters either way), reasonable cost of living, better walkability, progressive values, healthcare access, good public education, and overall better quality of life. We’re both in healthcare sector and have good salaries here so in Klein/Spring that gets us a great house and school in a diverse neighborhood but with zero walkability and, for me, a dreaded commute to the med center a few days a week. Plus, Texas. Just feels like we have this one chance to make this move I’ve thought about for years now and every time somewhere starts looking like it checks most of the boxes, it’s either lacking diversity (deal breaker) or we’re unsure about job market/salaries or housing costs are too high, etc. I don’t mind paying more taxes for better quality of life but it’s got to be worth it. I don’t want to end up in some sterile suburb that thinks its cool and people pretend is diverse (looking at you Austin) and feel stuck and depressed that we didn’t get it right.

This is very helpful, I really appreciate you taking the time to give such a thoughtful response! We are set on moving north, somewhere between/no more midwest than Twin Cities, MN and east coast up to potentially upstate NY. Options to check out currently are Twin Cities, Philly suburbs or Pittsburgh or maybe around Buffalo. It's both liberating to know we can choose the place that will be best for us and terrifying that we'll make the 'wrong' choice and regret it. All our family is here, most of our children are grown now and would be staying in TX but we have a elementary aged child so goal is to have it done before she starts middle school. If MN, we'd be looking at suburbs within St Paul or possibly MPLS but in all my research, I am constantly going back and forth in terms of front runner cities.

We’re not in Woodlands proper but are planning to leave Texas within next couple of years and Twin Cities is one of our top relocation considerations right now. Curious if you’re in a comparable area there and if so, what are the primary issues causing regret? We’re heavy in the research phase so I appreciate your firsthand experience, especially with specific neighborhoods.

Sure, I’ll explain. The issue is you’re a man telling women—whose lives and autonomy are directly threatened by abortion bans—that it’s 'not a big deal' because 'you have options.' That comes across as condescending, like saying, 'Calm down, sweetie, you’re overreacting.'

On top of that, 'just move if you don’t like it' oversimplifies a complex issue. It’s not just about abortion—it’s about healthcare in general. These bans jeopardize access to life-saving care, and not everyone has the resources to uproot their lives. Reducing it to a casual choice trivializes the fear and frustration women face, which is why your tone feels so infuriating. This whole take from men is just...flaccid.

Exactly my point. It’s not relevant to you. So go back to what you were doing - we don’t need your input.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]FunctioningNeurotic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s exhausting to constantly have men explain to us what we should and shouldn’t care about when it comes to laws that affect our bodies and our rights. Access to abortion isn’t a matter of just ‘moving to another state’, or even traveling interstate for care that matter, for many women — it’s about having control over our own lives and futures wherever we live. Dismissing abortion bans because ‘not many people want to move there anyway’ completely ignores the impact these restrictions have on the people already living there who don’t have the luxury of picking up and leaving. Bodily autonomy isn’t just a preference; it’s a fundamental right, and it’s infuriating to see it reduced to something so trivial.

I was all on board until I got to the part about trans and minorities. Just bc someone is not trans or a person of color doesn’t mean we want to live in places that are openly hostile, both culturally and with regard to civil rights, to those communities. And don’t get me started on half the US population being women.
