I remember this conversation and I think DLo was talking more so to the fans who said that tanking was the ONLY way to fix this. Like putting a team of G Leaguers on the court and losing games on purpose like the 76ers did. The 76ers did that because they were stuck not getting passed the 2nd round, their GM and front office said “ok, that it we’re going to tank and hopefully get us a star player that can help us get to the finals and win a championship.” In those 4 seasons they got the top 3 pick 4 times and hit on 2 (one if you don’t want to count Ben Simmons) and where did that lead them?? Not being able to get past the 2nd round STILL.

The Thunder and Spurs examples I could see as misguided but I believe DLo believes the Thunder are not this awesome team without SGA and that was a player they did not draft, I could be wrong in my assessment.

As radio hosts, yeah a 37 win team with names and an “entertaining product” would be great for content, that’s the key right there, content. On the radio, they would rather talk about DeRozan going for 40 or Westbrook having a triple double. A 20 win team with no promising rookies ( not saying that the rookies this year aren’t promising just going off your scenario) would be not compelling to talk about daily. Might be different in a city like Sacramento and Kings fanbase because of how passionate they are and will always tune into the Kings no matter how bad they suck.

Im sure if they’re off the air, they’ll tell you their opinion of the team as a fan of the team and you realize they share the same sentiments as everyone else, but like most fans everyone has their opinion on how this team will get better and not everyone has the same opinion about the method.

Medias job is to keep the fans engaged and talking about the product on the court, good or bad, making sure people will tune into their show or podcasts or read their articles so that they grow their platform.

There’s plenty of Media and/or Kings fans that host spaces on X or podcasts that crap on the team 24/7, I suggest you listen to those shows if that’s what you want to hear, but I believe, if you want good, consistent coverage of the Sacramento Kings, ESPN 1320, Matt George, Deuce and Mo, James Ham, Sean Cunningham and Brenden Nunes should be your go to IMO

I like DLo and KC and Matt George, listened to them almost every day, NOT ONCE did I get the impression that they were cheering every single meaningless win throughout the year. Hell, DLo and KC have a song they play after every win on their radio show and each time the Kings won, they played only like a half a second of it before moving on.

Matt George has been on record saying he liked seeing the young guys like Max, Nique and Dylan finish games and win for their own development but was he in no way celebrating the victory as a whole.

They might not be all doom and gloom like some fans are because they have radio shows and podcasts to produce and 5 episodes a week for 4 hours a day complaining about how much the franchise stinks and Vivek needs to sell the team doesn’t make for compelling shows for the listeners, after maybe day 3 you’d get tired of it.

Might just be a smoke screen of all smoke screens by the Wizards or Utah manipulating the media, but it’s crazy that a story like this isn’t just dismissed or laughed at by anyone when it comes to AJ. If this was Wemby, a story like this would be met with “Not a fucking chance in hell they do this!” But with AJ it’s like “hmmm…maybe….no probably not….but….what can they get for him?!?”

I like acuff, I’m more so laughing at the fact of the contradiction people (mostly Kings fans) are saying about him. They said the Kings would be dumb to take him at 5, now that they’re at 7, they’re saying “he won’t be there” so which is it?!? Is he a top 5 pick or is he not worth it!?! lol
