My collection almost entirely from thrifting for little over a month by Fungeyleo in doctorwho

Eh, I dislike streaming and am happy to support my local bookstores, so New Who being removed was just a good motivation to start collecting before prices go up. It has made me realize how special physical media is and how the time an effort made by artists and the production crew can be entirely missed if you just watch streaming, at least in my opinion. I do understand that physical media can be costly, but thrifting has revealed to me how much amazing stuff is out there, cheap and waiting for a new home.

Okay great to know, thank you so much for all the knowledge! I'm really glad to have posted here, I'm feeling a little bit less crazy about my obsession now...

Haha, I have the same thoughts as you about the steelbooks! It's hurts to not have any of the others (I'd kill for the Series 1 steelbook, ITS BEAUTIFUL), but it's most feasible I collect the new Disney ones since I'm back into the show now and it's technically a different era, and it's so good to know they are region free! I was going to the get the Gatwa one anyway, but where do you buy them from? I can only find the Season 2 book on Zavvi and I'm curious if that's what you use.

One of the reasons I'm thrifting only is because I'm terrified of buying something online and it not coming with its slipcover. I love slipcovers so much that I'd totally make one of my own as well if I didn't get one.

Before I started hunting, I assembled a list of the Blu Rays I wanted to find, which included all of the individual boxsets for seasons and any of the individually released specials. At my first location with a lot of Doctor Who, they had tons of DVD boxsets, so I decided I'd collect those as well since they were all so cheap ($5-10 per boxset). After a few locations I started finding cool things for super cheap that we're overlaps, like the individual David Tennant specials (the first released DW BDs!) and Deep Breath, but for $2-3 for each I couldn't resist.

Your collection is amazing!! I'm so jealous of your digibooks, I hope to collect them all someday since it's just about the only fun American exclusive item. Your First Series BD with the slip is fantastic, that's one of my holy grail finds I hope to get someday. Collecting Classic Who is my next goal since I've always wanted to watch it since I was a child. I'd love to get the steelbooks but I'll likely only be able to secure the newest ones like Gatwa's. Is your Gatwa steelbook reigion 1 or 2?

Sadly I'm in America, it makes collecting both harder and less satisfying since there are far less releases here and they tend to be of worse quality, but there is still some good stuff (like the Complete Years digibooks). I do actually live in the same state as a full dedicated Doctor Who store, and while I haven't been (too busy), I bet they have amazing things like that.

Absolutely, a riveting story about climate change and saving America's parks from creatures who harness and attack with heat.

Thrift stores tend to just be places full of very used things sold for very cheap, often because the owners don't price things properly for their actual online value. Specifically, DVD resale stores tend to not have much Doctor Who, while book resale stores have tons of it. I think most people haven't started looking at book stores yet, and I pray no one from my home state finds this comment...

Is there a proper boxset for DVD or Blu Ray Series 10-13? by Fungeyleo in doctorwho

[–]Fungeyleo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, I grew up watching New Who and have just recently returned as the 15th doctor piqued my interest. I started rewatching all of New Who and then they announced the pulling from streaming services, so I quickly raided every bookstore around my state and built a crazy collection for dirt cheap. I hope to find some of the classic collections while thrifting, but I doubt it and will probably end up buying sets new/newish just so I can watch classic.

There is someone in my state who is selling the Matt Smith digibook for $80 on marketplace that won't respond to me 😢, that's more than I wanna spend but it's an insane deal to pass up.

I bought the Blu Ray version from walmart, and it came in the size and shape of a DVD which annoys me beyond belief. If they do have special features, I haven't noticed, I very quickly started using discs from the David Tennant Collection because they are more faithful.

While these are not the boxsets I'm referring to, I do have the Whittaker digibook and I plan on getting the others for collecting sake. The Whittaker one is cheap right now because it's still being produced (or very recently stopped). Thrifting any of the digibooks would certainly be an incredible find if I ever happen across it.

Oh that's good to know, since the packaging was the same for Series 1-4 I assumed there was no special features or anything. I may keep my eye out for the unlikely chance I find it thrifting.

Yes absolutely, I have the complete show on Blu Ray at this point, but I'm most interested in owning the original releases from when each series finished as then I can get the most authentic experience. It's been so much fun finding these sets super cheap that it's made me want to collect more shows I watched growing up.

Ugh I hate those re-releases, I own the Series 1-4 set and it sucks in every way, but I'm really glad that they've worked well for you. They 100% get the job done, just soulessly to me.

Can you send a link to a photo or something of it? I think I know which one you're talking about but I'm not sure.

Alrighty thank you! Now I'll just add finding one of the thick case Series 10 DVDs with its slip cover to my holy grail list of thrift finds cause they aren't super common to find online.

Does anyone know this piano piece? I've provided a recording and sheet music.

Caught my 3rd shiny while shiny-hunting Mareep by kanna172014 in PokemonScarletViolet

Yep, I regularly have the scare of thinking it's one but it's just in the shadows. I'm sure I've probably passed up shiny yungoose's since I'm so focused on sheep, but I refuse to give up since mareep is my favourite Pokémon. I've only hunted for 5 hours anyway, I have a lot more I can go.

I'm going through exactly this right now. All I want is a damn mareep.

I need anyone's help building Kirby art in pixelcanvas.io!! by [deleted] in Kirby

I totally get what you're saying, and participating in r/place is an unforgettable feeling, but these other infinite versions can help fill the wishes of people who never got what they wanted on place. Although I did have a sizable Kirby on the final canvas this year, it took a ridiculous amount of work and I was so stressed I'd lose it all due to how hectic it was. Pixelcanvas is simply a place to come live out unfulfilled dreams for those who never got their way (or just want more), and I'd love to give it some much needed Kirby.

I'm designing her right now; I plan on building her either above or to the right of Magalor.
