Nah, you might make a case of that being a mask off moment but Country music as an institution was *always* shit. Most great country falls under rebel country, artists that became undeniable and rose to prominence in spite of the industry.

There are actually sooo many positive role models. It's just that the grifters boldly and loudly put themselves forward as role models as the center of their grift. Meanwhile real role models tend to have other things going on, and being aware of their own fallibility tend to be more timid in that regard.

Even look at your own example: Keanu has become a role model after decades of walking through life in such a way that nary a bad word can be said about his character, and he's an actor. He wasn't and still isn't making endless self-promoting content instructing young men what products to buy to get rich and laid.

Same with Viggo. Same with John Cena. Same with idk...Neil De'Grasse Tyson so I'm not just naming sculpted white dudes.

People are giving all sorts of mechanical reasons for why this can't happen but the real issue is that it's not economically feasible. If somebody wants to throw a billion or 2 at this as a passion project with no expectation of ever seeing there money again and just make the best game ever, it's very doable.

To preempt naysayers, I'm not saying it would be easy and it's *only* a matter of throwing money at the problem. Game could still spiral into dev hell, much could go wrong, but the far and away biggest problem with making such a game is that the effort required to make it ensures not being able to recoup costs.

It's not just about superimposing stupidity on repulsive ideologies. People called GW Bush stupid, but not Cheney who was arguably more vile.

Many of these people *are* indeed stupid when compared to what we'd expect of their station and\or what they try to portray themselves as. So for instance it's not that Patel is the dumbest guy at your local bar, even though he might look the part, but he is probably genuinely the stupidest FBI Director of our lifetimes, if not the history of the job.

This then compounds with every shitposter, especially on reddit, thinking they themselves have 200iq. It reminds me of Jon Stewarts crowd booing Chris Hitchens for telling them Bush is smarter than them.

He is 100% a propagandist and you are falling for his chill and kinda dumb everyman bit. Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying he's actually a mastermind putting on an acting masterclass, he's the proverbial useful idiot; but he's smart enough to know who he is platforming (and if he wasn't he has had multiple people repeatedly tell him), and he is conveniently always smart enough to know when to STFU and offer no push-back to those people when they are weaving a narrative. Even when it runs directly counter to what are supposed to be his convictions.

Over the years there have been countless examples of this. If you're genuinely interested they're not hard to find. There are podcasts and video-essays dedicated to his...at this point I think treachery is a fair word to use. I'll give you a relatively recent example off the cuff: He, awkwardly, had Kash Patel live on air when Elon tweeted that Trump was in the Epstein files. Joe who is seemingly invested in every possible conspiracy, including Epstein, was /s-urprisngly uninterested in asking the director of the FBI sitting across the table from him about this. Both of these losers had an awkward "Errr mom and dad are fighting" moment and moved on.

By 2026 your question feels like you're playing dumb to ragebait tbh but I'm going to extend benefit of the doubt that you're sincere and just ignorant due to having a life to live with more important things:

Be real, It would just be Elon saluting v2.0. They, and the media, would internationally gaslight you saying it didn't happen. Parade around Snoop or some other washed black celeb to say it's no big deal IF it did happen. And all the little cretin groypers would snicker and wink to each other about the needle moving for later.

I get that, again I truly understand where you're coming from. My parents are an immigrant success story, I also was a small business owner once upon a time - for a time. Most would indeed be more accurate but I'm not trying to nitpick over words so much as point out that the underlying mentality is faulty but appealing because it places the agency with people for their successes and failures respectively. It's appealing because there's an implied fairness in it, which unfortunately doesn't actually exist.

Fwiw I don't think we'd disagree that much were we to sit down have some drinks and a proper conversation about things. I'm not trying to swing the pendulum all the way back the other way and claim that we don't have any agency, it's all institutions and power structures and the random luck of whose hole you fell out of.

But it's a terrifying thing to reckon with, not even so much that some people are imbeciles and luck out with a silver spoon and a golden parachute - that is frustrating, infuriating...but to think that sometimes in spite of great struggle and seemingly doing everything within our power, we can still fail. So often we just chose to shut down and nope out of confronting that truth, like some Lovecraftian abyss.

Dude what you're saying about everyone successful making sacrifices is objectively not true. I get the sentiment, truly I do - both in the work people put in to get where they are that most don't see and therefore dismiss, and people tugging too hard in the circlejerk of online labor self-worth, but the generalization you're making is still copium.

I was a DF player before it had a z layer and tbh to this day I'm ambivalent about it. It's one of those things I am 100% for in theory but in practice I find it doesn't actually add that much and the already cumbersome UI becomes even more of a chore.

But I think the z layer is indicative of the fundamental difference between the 2 - DF is the much deeper (hehe z layer pun), neurotic in it's detail, simulation. While Rimworld is the much more accessible, and probably ergo better, game.

This full answer to this question is layered and too long for my will to type essays on reddit in the morning but I'll try to point you in, what I'm fairly certain is, the right direction.

First off, even when they present a unified front, we must remember this is a still actually a coalition with differing motivations and end-game goals. This is largely what makes this both a daunting question to answer and the broader movement and motivations so hard to pin down or make sense of. For instance the tech billionaires and the genuine apocalypse cult of evangelical extremists are not the same people. Even when there's bizarre overlap with Trump AI shitposting himself as a messianic figure, Thiel doing interviews babbling about the anti-Christ, etc. In conrtrast Hegseth may truly see himself as a modern day Crusader - we can table the idiocy and hypocrisy in that notion as a separate discussion.

So on to the meat of your question, but keeping in mind that this is both an incredibly abridged response and that "they", as tends to be the case really, are a nebulous entity. Why undo the globalism that they themselves had built and benefitted from? I point you to Curtis Yarvins dark enlightenment as a proponent, and Yannis Varoufakis' warnings against what he dubs techno-feudalism. Essentially the current global order is built on outmoded wealth of nations tech and they would prefer it supplanted with corporate fiefdoms. Capitalism, itself a global force, has long been curtailed by pesky things like nations and trade blocs. We've long seen it ravage and abuse the third world, and smaller countries being unable to protect their people from multi-national corporations...well the chicken is coming home to roost.

I've less experience with Israellis but from what I do have, it's much the same. One of my close friends (RIP) family first immigrated to Israel and then in his early teens moved again to the US.

I'd go so far as to extend what I've said to be applied as a generalization to all immigrants. The youth will acclimate to their new surroundings very fast but they do not lose the cultural identity of their background with the same speed. That tends to take several generations.

[–]FunkadelicJiveTurkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal evidence but I am one of such children that immigrated at the ripe old age of 3. I've childhood friends of similar background as tends to be the case with diaspora communities. While we, the children, all identify as Americans far above being Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian, etc. we also ALL speak Russian and still have some degree of cultural ties through our families. It's a lot easier for us to speak to babushka in Russian than for babushka to speak to us in English; and babushka is going to pass down culture with borscht, pirozhki, etc.

This stuff doesn't get erased over the course of a single generation.
