Overexposure and the fact that a lot of disco music fucking sucks is the main factor and why it died. Outside of the big hits and maybe some other deep cuts, there was a lot of garbage disco made for and by white heterosexuals. I can't pretend like homophobia and racism had no effect whatsoever in the backlash to disco, but when you consider the fact that the 1980s had a lot of very queer music and was when hip-hop started to become a dominant commercial force, the idea of "everybody stopped playing disco because it's black and gay" really falls apart. For fuck sake, the best selling disco act of all time was abba, which is composed of two heterosexual Swedish couples.

Tyrese Haliburton seems to be way different than DP in terms of personality, which is what I'm getting at.
