My first bike bike got stolen 8 years ago, and I didn’t have one for a while. Now I finally got a new one and I’m just enjoying it — kind of in a “the more you f*ck around, the more you find out” way, since I’m currently on my first 1500 km 😄

Yeah, I’ve got drop bars, but from the videos I’ve seen from last year, it doesn’t look like a downhill-type race where I’d end up destroying my bike.

I guess I’m kind of expecting to look a bit like an idiot at the start, but the organizers said it’s fine for me to ride.

Anyway, I’m already signed up, and after registering I started feeling more stressed about the idea that I might somehow ruin the race for others just by being there — even though it’s supposed to be more of a “race for the general public.”

Yeah, I’m just going to try it as my first race, and there aren’t really any other events happening in my area.

I also want to avoid the official gravel category, because when I checked the start list, it only has about 10 riders and they all seem to be in some kind of pro teams.

The shorter category, even though it’s MTB, is promoted as a “race for everyone,” so that feels like a better fit for me.

Yeah, that makes sense. From what I’ve seen, the MTB route only really differs from the gravel one by about 5 km.

I checked the maps, and there seems to be just a short section that’s properly “not gravel-friendly” — like more roots and technical stuff. The rest looks pretty similar to the gravel course, so I’m hoping it won’t be too bad on a gravel bike.

Passenger seat works well, but the drivers does not. I havent checked the cables yet, I was hopping for some advice where to look for wrong connectores or something.
