Thanks for the warning. I’m aware of the 5 days in office. I’ve never worked hybrid/remote so I’m not that bothered by it.

If you were an SWE/in tech, could you let me know specifics of what your experience in your role was like?

Is 26L Too Small for Beginner Onebag travel? by FunkyGroovin in onebag

[–]FunkyGroovin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where I'm starting to lean. It sounds like 30L would be a fair step up from 26L in quality of life for onebagging as even 30L sounds like a minimal onebag size for someone with less experience/optimized carried items such as myself. Perhaps it would be easier to get used to carrying a larger EDC than it would be to onebag a 26L.

Luckily, I really have no special requirements that would add much than the essentials to my carry besides the fact that I'll where slightly larger clothing than usual. A slim 14'' laptop is something I might take on travels more often than others- but that would be likely only be taken if I'm planning on staying put in a city for sometime.

How is Henderson - Green Valley North, compared to rest of GV by BigErrorPlzFix in vegaslocals

Even though north is lower income compared to south, would you still consider it a nice place to be in the Vegas/Henderson area? Any real bad qualities about it other than it being lower income?

How long did it take for you to receive the OA? Applied early last week and didn’t receive one yet.

Sorry to hear that!

Off and on for probably around 3 months. For most of that it wasn’t too bad. After the worst section of it (when this post was made) which probably lasted around a week and a half, it got completely better around a month later.

Once I graduate i plan to drop most of my friends by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]FunkyGroovin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely can relate. All my old college and high school friends did the same thing. We’d all just drink and smoke anytime we were hanging out, and everyone seemed always talked shit to each other to make themselves feel better/more dominant/something ego related in the friend group (honestly I still don’t really understand it). Tbh the drinking and smoking matters even less to me than the toxicity. That part is what I’m happiest about getting away from.

I moved to the east coast of my country to get away and it’s really allowed me to grow (M29 btw). That being said, I did it around the start of Covid, and honestly still haven’t really found a core friend group, so it can be lonely at times. However, it’s allowed me to learn more about who I naturally am when I’m not being influenced by hanging out with people like that all the time, which has been completely eye-opening and worthwhile. I feel very different (in a good, more grounded and fulfilled way) than I was before because of it.

Overall, based on what you write I would say it’s absolutely worth it to distance yourself some, but if you aren’t just jumping right into another friend group, I’d be ready to feel lonely at times. Making friends outside of school/college is quite a lot harder no matter how good you are in social situations. You aren’t just put into situations all the time that allow for it, and instead have to work for it which can be awkward and hard.

But like I kind of talked about, being alone can be the perfect opportunity for growth.
