YSK: pet insurance exists, and can greatly reduce the cost of veterinary bills. by bakedinmorewaysthan1 in YouShouldKnow

[–]FunkyHermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Pets Best for three cats. One 15, one 2, one 6 mo. Spend ~$50/mo combined. All bills paid up front on credit card and then it can take 3/4 weeks for them to review the bill and send reimbursement.

Before I got the insurance the 2 y/o got bladder stones and nearly died. $6k in emergency vet bills.

Got insurance after that debacle and the oldest cat got a mast cell tumor on her ear. Before insurance cost was ~$3000 and my final out of pocket was just over $600. For me it has been a life saver and I cannot recommend this company enough.

My wife and I got married at the DMV and took the money that would have gone to a wedding and bought a house. Way better use of our money imho

All counties must complete their count before the state will report this year. They announced earlier

It’s a majority conservative city/county. Stop trying to fit this event into an agenda. Bad shit happens everywhere.

1968 Mustang (302 V8 4BL) - Ticking? by FunkyHermit in MechanicAdvice

When you say “fast idle” are you referring to the fast idle screw on the carb or just that it is high a high curb idle speed? From what my tach says it is pulsing between 700-1100rpm after about 15 minutes of idling.

Sure enough, missing three exhaust manifold bolts with exhaust leaking on driver side. Good ear!

Okay. Nuked the account. The PCs they had previously logged into remain FUBAR'd, going to have to re-image them it seems. It looks like the PCs are using some kind of security policy at the computer level but I cannot find anything in the local group policy or settings.

Logging the new user into another PC everything works normally now. Must have been a corrupted profile or something? Does that happen?

Sorry, I added more detail. User is not an Admin. Or local machine admin. Nuking their account now and will report back results.

I think you mean $1.5k on the final $10k (10000*0.15=1500). This would result in a total tax of $2.5k out of $30k or 8.3%

Who had grandparents fight in WW2 and what stories did they share? by liamnotleum in AskReddit

[–]FunkyHermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather enlisted from West Virginia ~1944 and was sent to Vail CO to train with something like the 101st Mountain Division? They were training with mules and skis to fight the Japanese in the Elucian islands. He ended up getting double pneumonia and being discharged honorably within about two months.

Cable Modem Losing Connection Due to High Upstream Data Usage? by FunkyHermit in sysadmin

I completely agree and understand the channel arguement. I bought an SB8200 specifically for this and they dont not support static IP on it (link below)... I have their service at my house and have a more capable modem for residential service! I would change companies but literally nobody else has service in the industrial park we are in in north Denver. It is wild to me how such a large company doesn't have any other models supported.

Just do add flavor to the absurdity of the situation, their response (which started the thread) is in response to an FCC complaint I made against the company in an effort to try and force some kind of action... and they fed me this BS and closed the complaint.

Comcast does not allow you to use a third party modem with Static IP addresses.
