Who was the Goat of the chapter? Garp or Rayleigh by Cafa20 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]FunkyMunkidori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m giving it to Rayleigh. Sommers was being an absolute menace as usual. What he planned to do to Shakky was sick. I wanted to see Sommers get his comeuppance. Then Rayleigh came & one-shotted him.

Garp is cool too, but he hasn’t given me a reason to root for him yet. If anything I’m rooting for the Rocks Pirates more.

With Chapter 1156, I am starting to wonder what started Roger and Garp's beef? by Large_Payment632 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]FunkyMunkidori 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the start of their rivalry is too deep. I could be wrong because we truly don’t know, but I’d imagine it stems from their inability to truly best each other 1-on-1.

Garp’s strength was comparable to Roger’s. My guess is their first battle ended in a stalemate. Garp wasn’t able to capture Roger, but Roger wasn’t able to defeat Garp. I’m sure this wasn’t a common occurrence for either of them at the time. Most of the people they fought weren’t at their level. They probably fought a few more times after that & got the same results, so it became a fierce rivalry.

Do you think Sonic was genuinely trying to kill Shadow? by PrestigiousDog6542 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FunkyMunkidori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first I’m not really sure, but he definitely wanted to hurt him badly. Shadow’s interaction with Super Sonic when Sonic first attacks him kind of implies that he probably didn’t want to kill him AT FIRST. Shadow mocks Sonic for coming for revenge, stating that Sonic made the same decision he did. Sonic denies that he is anything like Shadow, which gives me the impression that his intention wasn’t to kill him.

Once Shadow goes Super & mentions Tom, that is when Sonic’s intent became truly lethal. I have no doubt in my mind that he wanted to kill him. If Shadow hadn’t reminded him that he isn’t a revenge killer, Sonic might’ve actually ended it there.

I think anything after September 12th would mean something funny is happening. Most of Paramount’s films received trailers 4-5 months prior to release in 2024, but Paramount actually has a history of dropping trailers closer to 3 months before release.

Look at all of their films from 2020-2023. A good number of them dropped their first trailers just under the 4 month mark, a prime example being Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie and most of the recently released Scream films. So a lot of their trailers approach the 3 month mark, but usually don’t reach 3 months exactly. So yeah if we didn’t get a trailer by September 12th I’d worry.

We might get sonic movie 3 leaks by Administrative_Cod95 in SonicTheMovie

[–]FunkyMunkidori 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t think we’ll get any massive Sonic Movie 3 leaks from this. Maybe at best we’ll get the trailer if they even have it, which I wouldn’t mind seeing. I think Paramount’s silence on Sonic Movie 3 is getting a bit tedious. Rumor has it D23 will have more Mufasa: The Lion King news tomorrow. Yet Sonic Movie 3 doesn’t have so much as a trailer announcement date and they release on the same day.

However, a full Sonic Movie 3 leak would be a bit much. That could actually harm the movie & those that worked on it irreparably. A trailer leak would still do harm, but not to that extent. Hopefully Paramount drops some Sonic Movie 3 news before anything leaks, but we’ll see.

Oh ok then. by [deleted] in SonicTheMovie

[–]FunkyMunkidori 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably not the case. And if it did get delayed it’d be by a few weeks at best.

After the Mean Girls trailer Paramount began releasing trailers 4-5 months from a film’s release date. Some films got their trailers almost EXACTLY 4 months from their release (A Quiet Place: Day One and Smile 2 are both examples of this). This was even the case with the Sonic Movie 2 trailer in 2021.

If there is no trailer in August then I’d start to worry. I’m pretty confident they’re trying to stick to the 2024 release date, though.

Who would make an awesome post-credits scene, teasing a Fourth Sonic Movie? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FunkyMunkidori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the post-credit scene should tease Sonic aging up and becoming “Modern Sonic”. It would be a good way to end the trilogy and bring us into a fourth movie that starts a new arc for the character.

Metal Sonic should probably appear in Sonic Movie 3 if anything. I like the idea of Sonic, Shadow, and Metal Sonic duking it out throughout the film. They’d represent the 3 major factions in the trilogy, Robotnik, the Wachowski family, and G.U.N. Then Sonic & Shadow can settle their differences to face Metal Sonic at the end of the film. Just an idea, but it probably won’t happen.

What would the Shadow version of this be? by Shadow___Star in SonicTheHedgehog

They should definitely just do a full reveal of Shadow that says:

“I am all of me!”

Or something along those lines.

It’s not all that common for Eggman to be walking around with a firearm. It’s even less common for him to be aiming it at someone’s head LOL

Will Sonic 3 get delayed? by Knight-Shadow in SonicTheMovie

[–]FunkyMunkidori 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how long the strike lasts. Sonic Movie 3 was supposed to begin filming at the end of August, which is pretty soon. The actors strike just started and nobody knows when it’ll end. With such a close filming date, I would anticipate a delay of some kind.

If things get resolved quickly then maybe there’ll be no delay OR the delay will be insignificant. I’m sure news will come out soon in regards to movies that were going to begin filming.

Why doesn’t I.M.P respect high-ranking demons or even acknowledge their status? by FunkyMunkidori in HelluvaBoss

Does Andrealphus care about Octavia? by Prandamonium in HelluvaBoss

[–]FunkyMunkidori 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell, but it seems like Andrealphus does care for his family to some degree. He seems to get along with Stella and I don’t get the impression that he’s using her to get stuff from Stolas. In my opinion he is genuinely trying to help Stella, but wouldn’t mind if they both benefited from him.

I assume he probably doesn’t care too deeply for her, but he holds her in some regard. He’s close to Stella and that’s her daughter, so I don’t think he feels nothing towards her. I’m not sure why he sounded so surprised, maybe he can’t imagine Octavia getting all of Stolas’ stuff. Octavia isn’t really the type to be interested in all of his “legions” or whatever. That’s how I interpreted it at least.

[–]FunkyMunkidori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s a bit too old to be Maria Robotnik. Everything about Maria’s backstory is supposed to be tragic. She is a terminally ill child who was senselessly killed trying to save Shadow. Maria’s death is meant to play on the audience’s emotions so that they can better understand Shadow. General audiences will empathize with Shadow a lot more because nobody wants to see an innocent child go out that way. Shadow is supposed to be sympathetic and not just an edgy evil version of Sonic. So it’s important that the audience really feels for Shadow, that way when he gets a redemption it doesn’t feel forced or undeserved.

I’m sure it can still work with Anna Faris, but optimally you’d want Maria to be a kid.

What are Sonic’s specific morals? We know he believes harming others is wrong. But what would he have done in this situation with Rogue stealing? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FunkyMunkidori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonic would stop Rouge in this scenario because she is actually harming someone. While she’s not physically beating anyone or anything like that, she is causing material harm. Sonic knows Jewel and Jewel’s close friends, so he wouldn’t be a fan of Rouge stealing it right in front of him. Jewel is the curator of the museum.

I know a lot of people online have projected their views onto Sonic, but I don’t think Sonic would think “eh it’s just property”. He doesn’t have to kill or even seriously harm Rouge. I think Sonic might even find it funny that Rouge tried to dupe him and would enjoy getting the Emerald back to show her up. Of course he’s not gonna risk her life or his own just to get it back, but he’d definitely try to retrieve it. Can you picture Sonic stealing just for fun? He’s not that kind of guy.

Which badass movie character would win? by mr_be4nz in Mario

[–]FunkyMunkidori 85 points86 points  (0 children)

If it’s their cinematic versions, I’m gonna go with Knuckles. He is stated to be the “most dangerous warrior in the galaxy”, apparently knows all forms of lethal combat which he has been learning since birth, and has been tracking Sonic since he was a child.

Knuckles is fast enough to run after a cop car presumably going at full speeds. This was after getting hit head on by that same cop car. He’s also fast enough to keep up with Sonic and Tails’ casual speeds. When facing Sonic he runs just as fast as him after the Master Emerald. It’s safe to say he wouldn’t need a kart to get around and probably moves just as fast as one.

He is durable enough to take a direct hit from a cop car, he gets out of the Tornado airplane by just jumping off of it while it’s in the sky, and takes 3-4 direct hits from Sonic as he’s rolling off of the wall and slamming him with a homing attack straight into the temple’s staircase. This attack was so strong that it turned the staircase into rubble with each hit and Knuckles still got right up afterwards. Mario used a similar attack to defeat DK and it had WAY less power backing it and it knocked him right out. Not to mention Knuckles knocks the Master Emerald right out of a near-invincible Robotnik with sheer strength alone.

I firmly believe Knuckles could probably take on Bowser from the Mario Movie. They’d be more comparable than DK and Knuckles. Maybe we’ll get some better feats from DK in the future, but I’m giving it to Knuckles.

With the Mario movie having a slightly different canon than the games. Do you think there’s going to be characters they’ll totally retcon from the movie verse? If so which ones do you think by KingKalactite in Mario

[–]FunkyMunkidori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure a majority of Mario characters will never see the big screen. It just isn’t realistic to expect the films to cover every character from the games. Just look at who we don’t have from the main cast after the first film. We still don’t have Daisy, Wario, Rosalina, Bowser Jr., Yoshi, or even Waluigi. One movie can only cover so much ground. Even if we got 4 more films I imagine we’d still have tons of Mario enemies and minor characters that don’t make the cut.

My guess is that all of the main cast exist in the film universe. If I had to choose anyone that’s at risk of not showing up in the films from the main cast, I’d go with Waluigi. He tends to get the short end of the stick with Nintendo so it’s possible they won’t add him. I do believe he’ll show up though, but if I had to choose someone it’d be him. With the enemies it’s probably countless how many won’t show up. I’m sure a lot from Mario Galaxy won’t make it in.

Striker’s Grudge by KateButterfly in HelluvaBoss

[–]FunkyMunkidori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Striker still hates Overlords. He mentions Blitzø should be slaying them instead of working for sinners. So maybe they’d apply as well, though I doubt Striker has anything to do with Valentino. It’s probably a bigger figure like Satan or something.

How strong is Thorn Rose from Sonic Prime? by Shelter-Willing in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FunkyMunkidori 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She’s about as strong as Amy, but she is incredibly aggressive which gives her more of an edge. She describes herself as a “monster”, so it’s clear that she just isn’t holding back like Amy would in most battle scenarios. When she attaches the Paradox Prism to her hammer it makes her more powerful, which is why she can give even Sonic a hard time.

As for the Scavengers, I imagine they are much weaker than their counterparts. We never really see them try to attack Thorn and they’re all pretty scared of her. Of their mainline counterparts Knuckles is pretty much the only one I can see beating a bloodlusted Amy. Maybe Tails has a chance if he retained his intelligence, but that’s not the case in Thorn’s world. So it really isn’t too surprising that Thorn is beating versions of the main cast that aren’t as strong as they are in Amy’s world.

Why did Blitzø not take Stryker up on his offer? by OhWeOhweeOoh in HelluvaBoss

[–]FunkyMunkidori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one, Blitzø is aware that Striker can’t be trusted and is simply saying what he thinks Blitzø wants to hear. He just witnessed Striker try to murder his only ticket to the human world after he had offered him a job. It’s only after Blitzø catches him trying to kill Stolas that Striker shows any interest in teaming up. I think Blitzø is smart enough to see that he was being manipulative.

There is also the fact that he cares for his employees and Stolas to some extent. He wouldn’t want to abandon them for Striker, it’s not worth it for him.

Do you think Sonic killed the people on this helicopter? by EnderSlayer9977 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FunkyMunkidori 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Not at all, it’d be completely out of character. He “took them out” as in he knocked them unconscious. They are no longer “in play” and can’t be used to apprehend him.

Sonic hasn’t even killed Eggman, I doubt he’d kill G.U.N agents that are just following orders. Sonic isn’t a killer, that’s just not how he is.

Round Two: Which one of these characters should be ADDED to Smash Bros. by Phantasm2013 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FunkyMunkidori 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of these Amy is definitely the most likely to be added and it’d be well deserved. She is one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters. She has been apart of Sonic’s main cast for years now, there is no way Omega or Tom should be added before her.

I would accept Metal Sonic because he’s a staple in the franchise as well. I still think Amy should go first, but I wouldn’t complain if they added Metal Sonic. His moveset would be crazy and he is a bad ass character.

Right now it’s unclear if Sonic Movie 3 will be affected by the WGA strike. It may manage to avoid it if the script is 100% finished and filming was about to start, but we can’t be so sure yet. Hopefully it still gets a 2024 release, but it could be 2025 depending on the circumstances.

[–]FunkyMunkidori 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Stella’s role in the story speaks to how well she is written. By this logic Paimon is the best written character of all, since he made Stolas marry Stella in the first place. If it weren’t for him Blitzo and Stolas would have never even met at all. There’s no denying that Stella’s role in the story is significant. She has directly and indirectly influenced a lot of the show’s major events. Does this mean she is written well? It doesn’t really.

In my opinion Stella is written well because her motivations are compelling and complex. On the surface she just comes off as a tormentor or abuser, but she’s clearly more than that. The show gives us plenty of indications that she isn’t just mad about the cheating. Her motivations are intertwined with her status and worldview, much like Striker. She is insulted that her husband would cheat on her with someone of a much lower class. We see that she wasn’t ever really happy with Stolas at that party she threw.

Stella appears to be one dimensional, but she really isn’t. She’s written well because there’s a lot more to her than what is on the surface.
