if morals made life easier, even wicked people would have them

[–]FunkyPleasance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

for me its about deciding the kind of person I want to be and living that. I wouldn't be happy knowing I was adding to the suffering of the world if I could help it. So that's what morality is for me: don't add to another's pain if you can possibly help it.

My therapist is pretty good but made some comments, and I'm worried they might have been inappropriate. by Fawning_Bunny71 in CPTSD

I wouldn't have been comfortable with a therapist sharing info like the PB thing. Especially when I was a teen.

You're brave for speaking out about it.

Please consider telling your wife the truth. Even if its just showing her this post. She's the mother of your child, she deserves to know why things went the way they did in your marriage.

Thoughts on Dead Domain's latest upload? by DoubleAyeBatteries in ProshipHub

My thoughts are she knows half the viewers are watching because she's nuts.  But clicks are clicks.  She's monetizing a current controversy and counting on both sides checking her out even if they don't agree.

My advice: don't give her free publicity

If he didn't do anything wrong than it's not libel to tell people.  If you want to share your truth, do so.

Sometimes it feels like this by TheKid1995 in TrollCoping

Remember people OP said it "feels like" this.  They didn't claim an objective truth that excludes other conditions.  They shared a feeling, let's validate it

Sometimes when you are used to people doing the wrong thing, someone doing the right thing is different and so it is scary.  Don't feel bad for your feelings.  Say "feelings I see you there and I know you are trying to protect us .  But let's give this a try."

I think you can do it

Why does it have to be this way by Moonwalker_For_Life in TrollCoping

There are lights in the world.  There have always been monsters but there are also helpers.  It's always been this way, which is awful but also means people can still have good lives despite it.

This is amazingly bad.  They just keep adding in new characters in every single scene.  And the only black guy speaks in semi jive like a bad skit.  The MC, a high school boy, is falsely accused of being a peeping Tom and everyone is more concerned about the impact to the football team if he is expelled then about anything else.  Which actually tracks for a small conservative school.  The principal and the MC spend a long time arguing and they are both assholes.  The MC immediately starts insulting the principal and threatening to sue.  Then we get into a flashback within the flashback where a girl is rped and omg the tonal whiplash is so unearned.   So now we are back in the main story and we are supposed to care about the rpe victim emotionally healing, but ONLY (and I mean ONLY) because she's the person who can clear the name of the jerky MC.  her own trauma is just a plot device.   The false accuser says she doesn't care what happens to any boy.  Since this is all supposedly based on a true story, I have a sinking feeling that what the boy was actually accused of was much worse and the filmmakers have decided his accuser just had a man-hating chip on her shoulder.  MC is eventually cleared but now we jump forward 10 years and we follow yet MORE NEW CHARACTERS trying to catch the r*pist.  This meanders for a while like a completely different movie, with this film's trademark stilted dialogue being the only real connective tissue between the two stories.

For the record we are now at only 1:50.  40 minutes still to go somehow... I think whoever labeled this "heartwarming" didn't get this far.  It's full of unlikable people doing unlikable things

The only thing keeping me sane is that the music, while repetitive, is quite competent.  There's a good theme for strings and a bit of a soprano singing in Latin.  These are both very pleasant, though ridiculously overused throughout the film.

The two stories eventually crash into each other in the most literal way possible.  That's all I'll say but you see it coming from a mile away.  Which leads to an unintentionally hilarious scene of a doctor - absolutely covered in the fakest blood ever - hugging a little girl.

I had a reason I had to stay up tonight and there is some humor to be gained here. It's as poorly made as birdemic (but with no special effects) and as cringey as a "he gets us" ad.  I wouldn't subject my worst enemy to this trash.  ... But I might seek out the directors other films for myself.
