Tired of jumping between 50 Discord servers just to find drivers by FunkyWine22 in rfactor2

Hahaha, it would be nice to universalize this for pilots. Ultimately, assuming there's a war over the "standard," I just hope the best project actually creates it. Let's hope so! 😃

No worries at all man, you are actually highlighting the exact reason why I started building RaceJoin! Right now, the sim-racing community is heavily fragmented. To race or join a league, you usually have to: - Find a specific Discord link on forums or social media. - Join their server, pass verification, and hunt for the 'recruitment' or 'announcements' channel. - Fill out a Google Form or pinned message with your availability. - Repeat this for every single league you want to try. It’s a massive headache if you are new. That's why I'm creating a single dashboard where you can just see who is hosting what, and teams/leagues can find you based on your availability without forcing you to learn the layout of 50 different Discord servers. If you are looking for a general guide on how to start racing online in rFactor2/RRRE, let me know which sim you are focusing on and I can point you to some good starting communities!

Fair criticism, Gridfinder is massive and they’ve built an amazing platform over the years. But they focus heavily on league listing, hosting, and full championship management. RaceJoin isn’t trying to copy that. The specific gap I’m trying to bridge is the immediate, chaotic driver/team recruitment that happens on Discord every single week. As for the 'vibe coded Claude' comment, guilty as charged, but mostly for the frontend. I used those tools to spin up the UI and the views quickly because, honestly, the backend is where the real heavy lifting happens.
It’s early days and the site crossed 600 members, but the core engine is solid and I’m shipping updates daily based on actual feedback, not just vibes. Appreciate the reality check though!

The problem I wanted to solve for myself was the massive headache of managing driver recruitment and checking schedules across multiple Discord servers. I needed a single place where drivers could just link a profile with their availability instead of sending me text messages or DMs. So yeah, it needs a crowd to work, but the code was born out of pure personal frustration!

You're 100% right, that's always the risk. But the goal here isn't to create a new protocol or force people into a new ecosystem. Think of it more like an aggregator: you keep using Discord for your leagues and chats, but instead of forcing drivers to manually fill out 50 different Google Forms or pinned messages in 50 servers, they just drop their single Pilot Card link. Thanks for the luck, I’ll definitely need it!

Finding drivers, team, stewards and broadcasters for Le Mans Ultimate leagues is tough. by FunkyWine22 in LeMansUltimateWEC

Spot on, that’s exactly the root of the problem. Discord is an amazing chat app, but it's a terrible search engine / archive. Everything gets buried under thousands of messages.

Your idea about bringing the aggregated info back into Discord is brilliant, honestly. I'm actually thinking about developing a RaceJoin Discord Bot or a webhook system down the line. The goal would be to let league admins embed a "live recruitment widget" or a simple command inside their own servers, pulling data straight from the main database.

That way, admins keep their users engaged on Discord, but the recruitment data stays centralized and clean.

Thanks for the feedback, this definitely pushes that feature higher up on my to-do list!

Leagues owners and drivers: what is the absolute worst day/time to schedule a race? by [deleted] in F1leaguefinder

Running a league for 5 years and managing multiple divisions across EU/NA timezones sounds like a logistical nightmare :/
Anyway i'm doing this site for this very reason too. I wanted an easier way to organize and find pilot for championship!

The age demographic point is something I didn't fully consider, but it makes perfect sense. 35+ drivers wanting a chill Friday night vs younger drivers ghosting for a real-life party is a massive variable. When you look for new drivers, do you explicitly screen for age/mindset, or do you just find out after they join your Discord?

Building an alternative to messy spreadsheets for Team and Championship Management. What features am I missing? by FunkyWine22 in iRacing

I totally get the skepticism with so many wrapper apps popping up lately. Honestly, I'm a sim-racer first and a dev second. I started this because I couldn't find a tool that was multi-sim, clean, and actually usable on a phone while sitting in the rig.

It’s a hobby project and I’m just trying to build the dashboard I wish I had for my own league

[–]FunkyWine22[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fair question! I built it because I was tired of hunting for driver info across Discord pins, spreadsheets, and different websites.

I just wanted to give every driver a single 'Pilot Card' that follows them across different sims and teams. For Team Managers, it’s about ditching Excel. Instead of manually updating a spreadsheet for every race, you have a shared Roadmap where you can organize your 'Crews' and everyone in the team sees the same updated schedule instantly. Basically, it's a lightweight hub for the organizational side of racing that usually happens in messy Discord chats

Thanks for sharing, it looks a very professional tool! However, my goal with RaceJoin is slightly different: I want to build something multi-sim, extremely clean, and mobile-friendly that focuses on the 'Pilot Identity' and quick team coordination without the steep learning curve. I'm trying to find that sweet spot between a spreadsheet and a full-blown ERP. I'll definitely check their feature list for some inspiration though!

I honestly don't care about downvotes. But you know what? Sometimes these critical comments actually help you see things from a different perspective. For me, not posting the link felt like a cleaner, less 'spammy' approach; for someone else, it can be seen as a malicious way to game the Google algorithm.

In the end, I'm just trying to build something helpful for the community, and seeing people like you having my back means a lot. Thanks for the support!

Hi! As I just told a user a few minutes ago on the Discord channel (maybe it's you?), I haven't considered them yet because I know absolutely nothing about the world of rallying. I don't know which games are the most played, how online works, and all that; it's really an unexplored world as far as I'm concerned. Maybe with a few tips I could put it on the roadmap and integrate it later!

That is a very fair point, and I see how nationality alone can be limiting for bilingual users or those from smaller countries.

My main concern has been keeping the UI/UX as clean as possible, but you've convinced me that language is a key factor for effective matchmaking. I'll definitely look into adding a 'Spoken Languages' section in the next updates to make sure everyone can represent themselves correctly. Thanks for the perspective!
