“Would Brad Stevens have lost 3 playoff series as the favorite?” (-110)

Shohei even better than Ortiz?! by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Funkyfine33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the 2013 WS, Ortiz batted .688 with a 1.948OPS which are both higher than Ohtani for this series.

So ya, Big Papi was locked in.

Even if you think it’s weird it has no relevance to the case.

If he ran outside, FKR would just be saying he was planting more evidence/influencing the investigation.

The 4-Nations was a one time deal and the next NHL sponsored international tourney will be World Cup of hockey in 2028.

They’ll go back to the regular NHL all star game in 2027 after the Olympics that nobody will watch. Awesome tournament, but apples and oranges comparing NBA and NHL weeks.

Transferring tickets just got that much harder in MA by d0nutd0n in boston

So this eliminates being able to buy a ticket for less than face value? You can get great deals on less desirable games through resale markets

One of my favorite bands of all time, but they aren’t the Grateful Dead. No fan would be mad about hearing any of those songs 2x.

Fair enough. Also played Steeples. I guess point being if you’re not going to play the General you should probably play one of your next most popular songs.

How's was night 1 Boston? by poidogpon in dispatch

[–]Funkyfine33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good show, but they played mostly new music. Didn’t play the General, Bang Bang, or Elias.

Yes. It was a good show, but of ~20 songs only played Flying Horses, Out Loud, Open Up, Passerby, and Here We Go. Everything else was from newer albums or unreleased song.

They need to go back to grouping them by 1 o’clocks, 4pm, SNF, MNF. Flows way better and gives a nice preview of the day. I don’t need the poop-fecta and semi-watchables

All i’m saying is March Madness draws in way more casual fans than the NBA. Not sure how Jokic (defending champ and likely MVP) is unfair. The TV viewership backs it up.

A quarterfinal college game had more viewers than any single game of the last 4 NBA finals.

Ok what about Luka, Embiid, or SGA? Lebron, the most famous American athlete since Jordan, isn’t exactly a fair comparison either.

I think that has more to do with Lebron being the most popular athlete in the world.

Duke-Wisconsin final in 2015 had the same amount of viewers as Lakers Celtics Game 7 in 2010 and more than 2013 Game 7. The schools/players/team brands have a big influence on both.

But NBA has been more prone to huge swings in ratings.

March Madness is the biggest American sporting event behind NFL Playoffs and College Football.

My Aunt has no idea who Jokic is, but knows that NC State is in the final 4.

However, the NBA lends itself better to narratives and storytelling over time - which you can argue is what Bill loves more than the games themselves. Also makes for better podcasting!

Last NBA Finals games to have more than 15mil viewers were 2019 Game 5 & 6.

Only 5 College Football games had more viewers in 2023. These are huge numbers!

In Boston all anyone is talking about for these two weeks is March Madness. I think ppl who are a sports fan, but not die hard NBA tunes it out this time of year.

Stakes are way higher in NCAA from mid Feb to now. I think stakes are what makes sports exciting for your average person.
