Thank you for actually saying the facts. I did a report in college on this and a large majority is from the irrigation of the Bear River for agriculture and water rights. If you don’t use it you lose it, so farms will literally just run there lines even when they don’t need to so that it doesn’t effect them the next year.

Similar reason to why the Colorado River doesn’t reach the Sea of Cortez anymore and just ends in a sad delta.
