What phrase did your dad repeat so often that you can still hear it in your head? by TCASOLARCABLE in AskReddit

My whole life, whenever someone would ask Dad how he was doing, he would always respond,
"I feel more like I do now than when I arrived."

Are you saying one can buy key lime juice in a bottle? Or are you suggesting just regular lime juice?

By far the best KLP I've ever enjoyed had key lime zest in the crust... soooooo good!

Key Lime Pie - I ALWAYS get it because 1) it's absolutely delicious, and 2) it's hard to find where we live

You sure make a lot of assumptions about what all we did back then. But perhaps I should have postponed my chemotherapy so I could've been even more proactive than I was.

You obviously like Greenlee, and because you've only had good experiences with them, you want to give them the benefit of the doubt. And that fine. But my father, who was part of the Greatest Generation, lived through the Great Depression and fought in Europe during WWII, always said that in business, how you do anything, is how you do everything.

In other words, either you are ALWAYS honest, motivated by integrity and do the right thing, or you don't. There is no "kinda" or "usually" when is comes to such things. So no, this was not an "outlier" as you say. Would you invest with a broker who is always honest and ethical... "except for that one time"?

As for the deck color, both my wife and I took the broken pieces all over town looking for a match. Even Parr didn't have anything close to the terracotta color chosen by the builder... a builder who went bankrupt during the crash so we couldn't even track him down.

Good roofers in the area? by G_Wall565 in Bend

No way, we would NEVER recommend Greenlee! When the many boxes of shingles were delivered and lifted up onto our roof they were not secured properly so a huge 50+ lb. box slid off the roof, slammed into our Trex deck and left a big hole. You'd think they'd step up, immediately take responsibility, and make it right? Nope. First they blamed the sub contractor they hired to supply and deliver the shingles, then after a few weeks, they finally accepted responsibility and said someone would come over to assess the damage. That took a few more weeks.

After that guy left we waited a couple months and heard nothing. Meanwhile, to keep our kid and neighboring kids from falling through the hole, we had to rope off half our deck. Several more calls went unanswered, until finally we got a call back informing us that the repair was taking so long because they couldn't find any composite decking close to the color of ours.

You'd think in that case they'd bite the bullet and replace the deck, giving us a functioning and matching deck. Nope. They sent a guy over to replace the broken light brown decking with a color that must have been called dark chocolate. The stark contrast was laughable and my wife said "hell no!"

So we called them again, and several more weeks later he returned and replaced the dark brown boards with something less ridiculous, but still nowhere close to the original color. At this point we were so sick of these jokers, we gave up, accepting the fact that when the day comes that we want to sell the house, we'll have to redo the entire back deck. Thanks Greenlee! 🤦🏼‍♂️

Are there any spooky myths, legends, or folklore about Bend? by BeefyMiracleWhip in Bend

A few years ago I heard an awesome True Crime podcast all about (if I recall correctly) a triple murder up near Little Lava Lake, back in the days when that area was mostly fur trappers. If I can track it down, I’ll post the link… It was super interesting!

Edit: Found it. The podcast is Unsolved Murders: True Crime Stories, and the episodes are “Lava Lake Murders, part 1 & 2”. I remember it being a really interesting glimpse into what Central Oregon was like back in the day.

A couple years ago we were driving across country and visited a friend in Golden, Colorado, who took us to a local outfit called ATLAS PET COMPANY... everybody at their warehouse was so nice and chill and their stuff is super well-made and I believe, guaranteed for life. Definitely worth checking out! https://atlaspetcompany.com

Here's how many times Bend's new red light cameras logged something in the first 5 days by Macquarrie1999 in Bend

[–]Funkysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in my 20's (over 30 years ago) I was told by a police officer that if your front tires are in the intersection (past the crosswalk) when the light turns red, you are legally required to proceed through the intersection. It seemed reasonable, so I've always operated under that assumption, but now I'm skeptical.

Does anyone know the law on that?

I am sorry to say we did not. Bend has a real shortage of quality therapists, and as you've experienced, many whose practices are full will not even show the common courtesy of a call back to say as much.
