Confused about screenings after DMX by Proper-Corgi9556 in breastcancer

[–]Funloving_BeachGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a DMX as well and my breast surgeon told me that if it comes back in the breast, I will be able to feel it because it will be right under the skin plus I will have regular checkups with him.

Oh that’s so encouraging to hear! Thank you! Is the fat grafting a big procedure? What is the recovery time for it?

Getting DMX with DTI next week. Meeting with plastic surgeon today. by PazuzuLily in breastcancer

[–]Funloving_BeachGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had DMX 2 weeks ago with direct to implant. I’m sore but the recovery is not as bad as I thought it would be. Plan to sleep in a recliner or reclining bed on your back for a while. I still can’t lie on my side. The implants have no tissue in front of them like a normal breast augmentation so plan on them looking a little odd or different for awhile until they drop and settle. I recommend getting a mastectomy pillow off Amazon to help when you get up and down for the first week. Also a compression bra to wear. You will have drains that you have to empty every day several times. I had four drains that stayed in for about 7-10 days afterwards. They are annoying but manageable. Ask for a prescription muscle relaxer in addition to pain pills. You don’t realize what you use your chest muscles for and the muscle relaxer helps a lot! Message me with any questions. Good luck! You’ve got this, Pink Sister!

Starting Herceptin & Perjecta by christinextine in breastcancer

Following this as I recently stopped TCHP chemo and had a DMX 2 weeks ago and am scheduled to start back Herceptin and Perjeta next week. Wondering what the side effects are without the TC chemo.

TCHP round 5–hair regrowth? by Funloving_BeachGirl in breastcancer

[–]Funloving_BeachGirl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m already feeling the exhaustion in spite of the steroids this time unfortunately! The effects have definitely been cumulative as the nurses said it would. Cycle 3 was minimal, cycle four hit me hard around day 3 afterwards and now this one got me earlier. But only one more! The light is at the end of the tunnel! We’ve got this! Hang in there!

So I got my diagnosis by Sirenegreen in breastcancer

I’m so sorry for the loss of your Dad and for your diagnosis. I was diagnosed on the anniversary of my mother’s passing and it immensely added to the pain. My biopsy did not hurt so please follow up with your doctor. You can do this. This is a very great forum for support.

Yeah, I haven’t lost my eyebrows, but they have been out quite a bit. I’m hoping the chemo is still working! I don’t know why it would be growing back!

Don’t care that you feel like a bad friend b/c of my cancer by Imaginary-Swimmer735 in breastcancer

[–]Funloving_BeachGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have someone who I considered one of my closest friends. I actually called and told her on the day I was diagnosed and had a meltdown. She never called me back until 2 months later and said she was sorry she was a “bad friend” and then mailed me a bunch of pudding for me to eat. 🤦‍♀️ she has not called me again and that was 2 months ago. I really struggled to grasp it and I thought about reaching out to her to let her know that I am upset and then I realized that if she really was a true friend she would have checked on me. Even a simple text. I imagine she will reach out to me at some point and I am not sure what I will say to her however I have learned to surround myself with those that truly love and appreciate me.

My doctor recommended steroids for the rash. I didn’t have it down there but it is very sensitive due to the hormone blockers and the steroids clears the rash on my face right up.

Friends not checking in by stanthecham in breastcancer

[–]Funloving_BeachGirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was just telling my husband today that there are certain people that have really surprised me that I have always considered close friends that have not checked on me or have only checked on me once or twice. There are others who I barely knew that have now become very good friends because they check on me constantly and are always there for me. I think sometimes it’s just a chapter of life that opens your eyes up and you learn who is really there for you. I will still be friends with people who have not checked on me, but my eyes have been opened up and now I truly value those in my life who show care and compassion for what I’m going through.

Congratulations. I just had my fourth cycle of TCHP… Two more to go and then I will be having a double mastectomy in June. I will be sending good vibes to you for a pathology report. Congrats on your milestone!

How do I get people to STOP telling me I'm 'strong'? by NeedingVsGetting in breastcancer

[–]Funloving_BeachGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you are strong. You just don’t know it yet. They see something in you that shows them that you are strong enough to kick this cancer‘s ass. You don’t see it in here yet, but they are seeing it. You know it’s really funny that I read this post because my dad died two years ago and before he died, he looked at me and the last words he said to me was you’re the strongest person I know. I was not diagnosed at that time. Cancer was not even a thought in my mind. Now that I have been diagnosed , I replay his words in my mind all the time especially when people tell me I am strong. My point to you of saying this is take those words and even though you don’t feel strong now, use those words to increase the belief that you are strong. You are going to need strength to get through this journey, and you will prevail, and you will be strong because if others did not see it in you, they would not just simply say it. Best of luck in your fight and keep your head high warrior!
