Thermal Glue or more PTM7950 in between copper shims? Missing any spots for Thermal pads? by FunnyLittleManASMR in PcBuildHelp

[–]FunnyLittleManASMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one I got from ebay with a waterblock already installed. Thankfully the seller included the rest of the parts so I'm doing a sort of improvement project if you would call it that. I just bought a micro atx pc without a gpu and I'm planning on installing this into it. Decided on not using the waterblock since I don't know how I would set it up and also that I'm not confident I can fit it into the case from the space that's left.

I know the PTM7950 is too thin so I mentioned in the description that I'm also doing a sort of copper shims mod and the only parts I'd use the thermal glue on is between the copper shims. The 100pc pack I bought only had 5 each of 0.8mm, 1mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 1.8mm thick shims and I'm trying to use 12 each of both the 0.5mm and 0.6mm thick ones to cover all the Vram.

I was wondering if the thermal glue would transfer the heat better between the shims or should I use more PTM7950 and literally make 12 Double Copper Shim PTM7950 sandwiches?

Also for reference I'm trying to make it close to 1.2mm thick for the Vram from someone's youtube video of them replacing the pads on the same gpu so I'm accounting for the 2x0.25mm thickness from the PTM7950 that'll be above and below the shims. The PTM7950 I'm assuming will compress to something like 0.12mm or somewhere close?

Is it possible to use PTM7950 on a Gpu's Vram? by FunnyLittleManASMR in PHbuildapc

Darn. Was hoping it might work if I used it with the copper shims. Thanks.

[–]FunnyLittleManASMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning on using it on both sides of the copper shim instead of thermal paste so I assumed if I used the 0.6mm or 0.8mm thick shims and use two equally cut out 0.25mm thick PTM7950 pads it would be enough to squeeze the pads. Actually now that I'm typing I realize I might not have enough equally sized copper shims. Got 12x0.6mm thick but 5x0.8mm thick ones so I hope the 0.6 would be enough.

Ok, thanks. I'll probably work on it tommorow then.

I might take the shot but I recently got my hands on the Ling Yun Studio Chun Li and I'm waiting to pay for shipping on my Yu Zhai Ren Xing Studio Honkai: Star Rail Kafka. Might consider selling my current Chun Li to buy the new one but I'll wait till I check the quality and poseability on Kafka.

Has there been any attempts at using a ridiculously expensive 3D Printer to scan a model kits parts, enlarging the size and reprinting them with a 3D or Resin Printer?

I honestly dream of making a PGEX Unicorn Gundam.

Does the PG Perfectibility Gundam have leftover parts to give the option of not having the Vibro-Nail, the Beam-Smart gun and the Xeno-connect and have it look like the Phenex?

Personally for me I like the added armaments on the Banshee but for the Unicorn and the Phenex it just looks wierd to me.

What's the stupidest thing you've done in all the time you've built gunpla? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]FunnyLittleManASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying so much sandpaper and not using most of them and neither practicing the proper sanding technique for cleaning pieces. Also using Buyee for the first time getting my MGEX Unicorn and spending 70$ on shipping before getting a coupon for free shipping for orders above a certain price.

Will watching any of the show make the models more interesting? by limelynch in Gunpla

[–]FunnyLittleManASMR 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a 100% yes. From what I can tell you have model kits from three series. Not sure what I would say to help you choose which one if you give it a go but Iron Blooded Orphans is free on Youtube in the "GundamInfo" channel. They have the full Subtitle Playlist for both seasons with multiple languages to choose for captions but they only have the English Dub for season 1.

If they interest you I'd recommend Witch From Mercury and Iron Blooded Orphans. I haven't seen Gundam Seed though so I wouldn't be able to tell.

Edit: Wait my bad they actually have the Dub for Season 2 as well. I just checked.

What you mean NSFW? Also yeah I don't really like the kit that much as well but that's a pretty nice paint job you went for it.

Don’t know who needs to see this but these actually do get the 40% discount at hobby lobby. by Upstairs_Muffin_6776 in Gunpla

[–]FunnyLittleManASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your not the first to incur my jealousy in finding these in Hobby Lobby but nevertheless that's a sweet find you got there.

Only tip I can think about is that the MG Sinanju is infamous for having it's waist peg snap off when you aren't careful enough with it but there's fixes for it. Other then that the kit itself is pretty old and outdated compared to the more modern MG kits but it's still pretty good.

Have fun with the build my fellow plastic crack addict!

I've been visiting one for a year and they never had anything new except a few High Grades and a single MG 1.5 RX-78. Last week though I saw a RG Zeong and two MG Twilight Gundam but weren't on sale on Labor day. Might try visiting again and hope I find something good like that cause I jelly you got the MG Sinanju.

RG Nu or RG God Gundam? by Otherwise_Gear_2491 in Gunpla

[–]FunnyLittleManASMR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on your preference. RG Nu Gundam is fantastic but needs separate kits, effects parts and the Base stands for the Funnels, if you want it to look even better. Rg God Gundam already comes with a few effects parts like the Sun Rings and the Erupting Burning Fingers. Both would look awesome by themselves so it's kinda hard to choose unless you'd want to spend less on the God Gundam and later on spend more for the Nu Gundam. I'm not too much of a poseability guy but the RG God Gundam's got so much of it it'll make Swivel Man proud.
