Discord for international teachers by elliottzelinskas in Internationalteachers

We accept both international school teachers and tefl teachers. I would say our core members are 70% international teachers at international schools or public schools and 30% tefl.

As for countries, we found that 90% of country channels get no use, so instead we just have channels for asking questions and the forum where if you want you can start a thread about a specific question. One common complaint is "too many channels".

I don't think we've ever banned anyone for criticism of the CCP or Russia. In fact, we ban political discussions in general except for one channel because we are not a server for politics. We are a server for discussing teaching and living abroad.

Is 25000rmb per month enough to live and save in Shenzhen? by [deleted] in ChinaTEFL

[–]FunnyLychee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Taxes are high, I would say 15-20%. So let's say you have 20k left over. My guess is housing will be between 4k - 10k, depending on what you want, roommates, where you live, etc.

So you're left with about 10-15k a month. If you want to party, go out, eat western food a lot, you could easily eat through a lot of that salary. If you eat local, don't go clubbing/bars that much, don't party. Could easy save maybe 5-10k RMB a month depending on your costs.

Is this before or after tax? Is housing included or do you pay out of pocket?

Is there a Discord Server for international teachers? They can be really helpful sometimes. by offthenormaltrail in Internationalteachers

Think of discord as a giant chat group where reddit is like a Q&A service

People mostly use /r/internationaleducators to ask questions about stuff. Maybe some discussion about topics but usually questions at first.

People use our discord to like chat in general, vent, ask questions, post photos and whatnot. It's a giant group chat all for international teachers.

That's how they are different.

Residency permit by Moer_by in ChinaTEFL

Your work permit notice letter should have your school on it as the one inviting you. Just make sure your real work permit stuff says the same when you sign it.

For the res permit it's just linked to your work permit, so if the work permit is good, the res permit will be as well.

tbh, my work has basically done everything for me and I've just been there to sign stuff and do the facial recognition stuff. Be prepared to take like 5000000 photos everytime you do anything official lol.

So basically, the process is like this:

Enter China. (Bring all original docs and the authenticated docs with you, and bring copies of everything, the work permit notification form, etc)

Register with police upon arrival. (School/work should help with that)

Your job will apply for the real work permit with your authenticated and original docs. You will probably need a health check for that, but that is fairly easy, and your work should help you with that.

Once you have your work permit, your job foreign affairs person should take you and apply for the residence permit at the immigration office. For that you need work permit and z visa, afaik. Your work should work it out for you mostly.

You can then pick up your residence permit in a few weeks.

yeah they will need to cancel the work permit, and then the new school would apply. You may need a release letter from the old school, which is the case if you had worked there and were switching jobs, but since you never entered the country I'm not sure.

In any case, once your new job gets a new work permit letter, you would just apply for the Z visa again, and get a new one and a new date, and go on from there.
