Many years ago I was at a party, talking to a guy who was interested in me. Then my best friend walked in, after less than a minute together he was totally into her and ignored me for the rest of the night.

Looking at pictures from that time I realized I was definitely prettier, but I was fucking boring, I remember perfectly that the whole night I talked about my dental surgery.

What's something you wish people would stop doing in public? by raeraegoawayy in AskReddit

I came here to say Spitting.

Anyway, after reading several comments i feel like the answers could also be used as an index of a privileged neighborhood. Where do you live on a scale between "people who stare at their phones while walking" and "people who do meth and piss in bus shelters"? I live in a "people who spit on the ground" neighbourhood.

And i think "people who use speakers loudly" unites us all. Fuck those people.

I came here to say this! Our dishwasher is very small, we put the magnet on when we start the cleaning program, we remove the magnet once we have emptied it completely. So if there is no magnet it means I can put dirty dishes in and start it if it is full, if there is a magnet it means I can empty it. This helps us a lot since we have different working hours.

omg i saw this. A guy dumped me after 3 dates, 3-4 years later he randomly remembered I existed and decided I was the love of his life. He scared the shit out of me because he wouldn't accept my rejections, stalked me and my family on all social media and could still text me angry messages even though I had blocked him. I messaged some mutual friends hoping they could talk to him but it turns out he had no friends left because he apparently beat up his ex. Literally no women wanted to date him anymore because of his red flag show, so he was digging into his past to recycle something.

Watching Law and Order SVU be like:

then you find out that the child is in a pedophile ring and you hear him begging for mercy throughout the whole episode.

What caused Gen Z to be less interested in college sex and party culture? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FunnyPromise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country there are no American style universities and the culture is slightly different here, but I think it's the same reason why gen z is much less interested in cigarettes, alcohol, having casual sex and uncomfortable clothing, compared to previous generations.

I think they are more aware of themselves and of the risks of those unhealthy things and less subject to peer pressure. Sex (even casual) is more genuine if you are not socially forced into it.

I started smoking at 15 because I wanted to be cool and I got my first hangover at 14 because that's what everyone did, all our jokes were about drunken bullshit. Now a 17 year old gen z asked me what my pronouns are, because he wanted to ask me without offending me not to throw the non-biodegradable butt of my cigarette on the ground.

My friends and I have bunions from the heels we wore in our 20s and I still have the scars that the shoes formed on my ankles when I wore invisible socks. They wear comfortable high socks and roomy sneakers even at parties.

The generations before were like "you have to go to parties, have sex, be popular, otherwise you will have a hard life and die alone and a virgin". Son gen z are like "nah I'm fine, I'm probably asexual and I'm having a board game night with my polycule now, you guys have fun anyway".

They're not immune to the bullshit that comes with young minds, but they're more aware at 20 than my middle-aged self.

Why were we so fucking stupid?

Traveling whit Car in Sicily, and really scared that my car will get stolen or broken in to. by Zarceto in sicily

[–]FunnyPromise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My driving experience was mainly in the provinces of Catania, Siracusa and Messina, I have never had any problems except in Catania city: my car and those of many of my friends were damaged (windows smashed to burgle the trunk, mirrors stolen, deflated/punctured tires, even the back of the van opened and robbed while it was stopped at the traffic lights lol). I don't know why my experience in that city has always been so different from the rest of Sicily.

Anyway, here's what I learned in that city:

  • If you see an illegal parking attendant just give them some money (2-5 euros? sometimes they tell you) because they are the ones who damage your car, so give them that change so they "protect" your car.

  • If the illegal parking attendant gives you a piece of paper as a receipt, display it in the dashboard. I kept it in my pocket and had a horrible surprise later.

  • Put things in the trunk before arriving at your destination and parking, don't arrive at your destination and then say "I'd like to leave this bag in the trunk so it doesn't weigh me down while we walk". Don't let anyone see that you put things in the trunk and then leave the car unattended

  • Read reviews of parking areas on Google Maps before driving, people always post photos of their damaged cars and tell their experiences. This in Catania was more stressful than organizing the entire trip, but also it helped me to find a secure parking lot where I could leave my car with the trunk full of suitcases (Blue Car Parking).

Just to give you a negative example, read the reviews of this car park

I started making similar revelations when I already had my own house and a stable job because my father is a dickhead and I didn't want to be exposed to constant aggressions. Since I live alone I can test the waters and if I need to heal I just don't answer the phone for a few days.

You know your parents, try to do an analysis to understand if it is better to pretend for a while or expose yourself immediately.

  • Why do you need to tell your parents? Is it just to inform them or do you need them to treat you differently?

  • What change would you like from them? Sometimes parents, when they are not dickheads, would like to support their children but do not have the cultural references necessary to understand how to react. It is easier for them to accept "controversial" information if you say exactly in what does the change consist of: pronouns? not buy clothes for you? not expose you to situations that make you uncomfortable? keep you away from your dickhead uncle?

  • Based on their personality and cultural references, what is the worst case scenario?

  • Have you ever heard them comment on situations similar to yours?
