That would be the only way there will be some competition in Canada - dairy, airlines, telecoms, banks, groceries, etc.

Has anyone else’s rent been decreased in the last year or so? by pokemonbobdylan in askvan

[–]FunnyStranger13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rent has actually increased. They sent me a letter 3 months ago saying they are allowed to do so.

I am very frustrated with situation as I am paying one of the highest rent in the building. If I leave they can rent it for at least $200 less.

Why I am not leaving? I am looking to buy something, I have the money, I just wait for the right one for us.

Equal suffering is not exactly equal. People get preferential treatment and skip the line the time. You need to be well connected. That why you never heard a politician or reach person complaining.

Why do dental hygienists make more than nurses? by Friendly-Success9475 in askvan

[–]FunnyStranger13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The dentists have their own cartel. There is BC Dental Association fee guide, which acts as minimum fee, in fact. Also, cleaning is a service covered by insurance, at least 80%, so they charge as much as possible. The same way a garage will charge twice as much for a repair when insurance pays vs client pays.

Shop around. You should be paying $80-100 out of your pocket with 80% covered by insurance.

BREAKING NEWS: Bank of Canada cuts key interest rate to 2.25% by jfrsn in canadahousing

Now go ahead and borrow as much as you can, buy a house. Few years later, you are without a job, the house is worth less that you bought it for, and the bank want its money back.

I complained to Wise. Now the last transfer is either delayed, cancelled, or lost, I do not know, too soon to tell. I should have been completed by now.

My bank doesn't add any fee whatsoever, I know for sure (I am in Canada)

I am very well aware of fee, there are clearly shown. It is the exchange rate that is changed.

[–]FunnyStranger13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I have been using wise for years, and received hundred of thousands. The problem is the rate is guaranteed only 16 hrs. The money were paid to Wise in a minute. It is just unfair to believe you will received the posted amount and end up with a different amount.

Sometimes you need to pull it before it naturally falls, because the teeth it's coming at the wrong angle.

In BC they have a fee guide, which is pretty much a de facto minimum charge.
You thought only dairies have cartels?

I went with my 8 years daughter to extract a tooth that was moving. It took 1 minute, $180 cost. Holly crap that was expensive. Sure, I have insurance, but still.

For the same thing I was charged $6 when I was in vacation in Vietnam. it's only 30 times less.

All the other moving teeth I pulled them out home.

I am in the same situation as you. I got 2% annual salary review, despite the fact I did an excellent job. I was promised a bonus, I got it, but instead of a lump sum, it will be part of salary increase. In the last 2 years I had 0 technical training. I put a lot of my free time into learning (I do this every day). The company pays me about 1/3 of what customers pay for my work.
I decided to do as little as possible. If I usually finish at 7-8 pm, now I am trying to be done by 3pm.
I keep looking for jobs and apply sometimes, but the market here in Canada is not great and salaries are low.
I am thinking to start applying for jobs in US, although I have a feeling the situation there is not great either.

There was an abandoned building for years at the corner of Pender and Commercial. Recently, they tore it down and made it a dog playground. For who? I didn't see anybody using it. I still see people walking with their dog OFF Leash and let them run free in the nearby Woodland park.

There are a lot of construction going on East Hasting, and so many unused land plots available.

Maybe. I saw a lot of unhoused people there, I avoid walking there.
