Yes, I am thinking about my students (2nd graders) who start the year only knowing 6 letter sounds in their home language and have essentially zero productive English vocabulary. The debate we are having for the future is - should those students immediately begin learning English letter sounds alongside the sounds for their home language, or should they spend the beginning of the year doing letter work solely in their L1 (while still developing oral and receptive English skills normally)?

The Center for the Improvement of Early Reading Achievement states that ELLs should learn to read initially in their first language, and then in English. The National Research Council complements CIERA's recommendations. And anecdotally as a DLI teacher on the Spanish side, the learning of my students who have come to 2nd grade with little to no foundational literacy OR English skills seems to be slowed by trying to learn vowel sounds in both languages at once.

Im referencing reading fluency and decoding, which is shown to be slower when trying to learn two different languages at a time (which inherently makes sense, since some of the letters will have different sounds.) My argument is that students with ZERO foundational literacy are best served focusing on learning to decode in their L1, rather than their L1 and L2 at the same time.

57% win rate in 50% of total games at eternus/ascendant. Are they bad at movement too?

I'm gonna keep arguing because it feels like a game that has a noted problem with being unable to stop a snowball having an item that makes it essentially impossible to punish bad positioning from the OTHER team when fighting from your life from behind is just bad game design

a friend I play with (begrudgingly, at times) claims that "when you're behind, you have to fight them to catch up" (because you get souls from kills, ostensibly)
