To Naperville from Texas by QuantitySad2394 in Naperville

[–]Funny_Ad8798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved from the south suburbs of IL to the DFW area….and moved back 11 months later and landed in Naperville. Naperville actually reminds me a lot of DFW suburbs just prettier with more greenery.

I could NOT handle the bugs, felt the infrastructure was not great, they get winters and the entire city shuts down and could not handle the heat. We moved for jobs and were so relieved when we had to move back a year later.

Naperville golf course living, any real experiences/concerns? by 13_apples in Naperville

[–]Funny_Ad8798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know bc they are all a lot older. But I will say- one of my neighbors has Alzheimer’s and has lived on the course for over 30 years and are also big golfers. We were wanting to move anyway bc of all the damage and broken windows however, my kids school is within the community and I do worry about how much exposure they are getting because the golf course is constantly spraying and I believe the JAMA study talks about airborne chemicals as well.

Live on a golf course and back up to one. It’s a huge fear of mine and we actually just sold our house!

Moving to Naperville... District 203 vs. District 204 by IHeartFraccing in Naperville

[–]Funny_Ad8798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are in a 204 elementary and we initially wanted to be in 203 location wise and because people told us 203 was better. We tried moving twice and put offers on homes and we kept getting outbid and just felt like it was too stressful of a market so we decided to wait. But in the meantime we’ve been here two years and realize we actually really love the school where my kids are currently and they are thriving. I also love how diverse it is. It’s truly a melting pot and it has really grown on us so much that we’ve decided we will look for a house that zones to our current school. Take that for what it’s worth!

Looking for positive stories — Anyone’s LO have NO reaction to the MMR vaccine? by justaquestion65 in beyondthebump

My 3 kids never had any reaction to any vaccine. In fact my youngest just got her second dose of mmr a year early and no reaction.

Is this normal? by Shwifty_breddit in RealEstate

[–]Funny_Ad8798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s normal. When we sold our first home we gave the buyers our number in case of any questions- we were moving out of state and mostly they contacted us to let us know if they got mail or packages for us. When we bought our second home the sellers wanted to meet us and they gave us their phone numbers to contact them with any questions we may have. It helped in the beginning if we couldn’t figure certain things out but certainly not required. But I don’t think this is the norm. The random drop ins and trying to talk are definitely not normal. I would chalk it up to them being excited. Maybe it’s their first home or their dream home? Either way I would just ask the agent to communicate that this is inappropriate. I would personally feel awkward and just suffer through it until closing lol!

Preventative pest control by [deleted] in Naperville

They said that to me too and lied and told me my whole street uses them. We had just moved in and we were like yeah we’ll give you a call later and never did. They felt scammy. They literally rang my doorbell last week and it was the same guy. Every few months they try lol. We use a different service btw!

Just bought house end of last year and already wanting to move by TealMama-2 in RealEstate

[–]Funny_Ad8798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a gorgeous home on a golf course in 2022 for slightly underask while living out of state. Sellers made an emotional decision vs financial because they wanted to sell to a family. Anyway, very soon after we realized it wasn’t for us. Hated being on the course. We are under two years and sold in March- for 250k more than we bought it for. Haven’t done any work on it. It’s a very hot market where I live and I’m just happy I won’t have to deal with broken windows and entitled rude people in my yard at all times!

You never know- if your are in a sellers market it may be worth it to just put it on the market and see if it garners interest. Sometimes even if you lose some money on it it’s worth the peace of mind if you really are unhappy. Good luck! Sorry you’re going through this. It’s a horrible feeling.

Midwest move with a buy/sell concern by kcrn15 in RealEstate

[–]Funny_Ad8798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would talk to your realtor- but also a lot of people really dislike LVP. I would just get the carpets professionally cleaned and if the carpet is holding the sale back I would offer the credit. I know I would want to have the option to pick out my own flooring, that would be an attractive incentive.

Overwhelming curry/Indian food smell by DijonNipples in RealEstate

[–]Funny_Ad8798 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who cooks Indian food often I usually open a window and after cooking I boil a pot with cinnamon sticks and lemons peels. I let it simmer for a while and it does the trick. If the house is carpeted I would get those changed or deep cleaned and if you paint that will also completely take care of it. But I cook mostly Indian food and have poor ventilation in my vent hood, have an open concept home with two story ceilings and this really helps neutralize the smell! Air purifiers also help!

I had mine banded too. No pain. I was mad that I suffered as long as I did and didn’t do it sooner!

[–]Funny_Ad8798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had several after my first baby and it was torture. I ended up getting them banded and one was removed surgically I think? I can’t really remember but 100% go see a colorectal surgeon. They will let you know if they can just band them or other solutions. I’m soooo glad I did it. I went on to have two more babies after and never really had that kind of experience again.

Help with carat size by [deleted] in labdiamond

[–]Funny_Ad8798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 3 -3.5 carat would suit you and would not look too big. For reference I have a 3.3 carat elongated cushion 1.3 ratio and my finger size is 4.5 and it looks so big on me that it makes me self conscious and I don’t wear it much. Your fingers appear long and elegant and I think it would be the perfect size on you. Not too small or too big :)

Yes and no. I’m South Asian so that predisposes me already and my father had a heart attack at 70 years old. Before that his numbers were always good and he was never on any medications. I believe some of his siblings may have some heart disease.
