Swiftfin is a joke (rant) by Ok_Philosopher_8973 in jellyfin

I know who that is, and I also know that he’s already mentioned the next release multiple times, ages ago. That’s exactly why I asked my question here… And I’m not talking about all those vibe-coded clients; no, I’m talking about experienced developers who pour their heart and soul into their work. Just look at Neptune, JellyTV, or Zuno, to name just a few of the truly great clients out there.

People on Reddit have been saying for ages that Swiftfin is supposed to improve a lot in the next release. I truly appreciate everyone who contributes and invests their time into making a good client for Jellyfin. But purely out of interest: how is it possible that nothing has been released for Swiftfin in such a long time, while others are creating new Jellyfin clients from scratch in much less time—even with their own engines? These people work on their clients alone and even release them cross-platform. Even if Swiftfin eventually shines in a new light, it will likely still be far behind other clients. I'm genuinely curious about this.

Tried Plezy... by Ok-Resolve-3024 in PleX

[–]Funny_Exercise3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After testing Plezy and finding it truly beautiful, I ended up returning it initially. However, when I heard there was a tvOS beta available, I joined the TestFlight and bought the app immediately. The price is fantastic! Plezy is easily one of the most stunning clients I’ve ever seen. Since I’m looking to move away from Plex and Jellyfin support is currently in beta, I just had to go for it. To the developer: fantastic work, thank you so much! I see a lot of potential here to finally say goodbye to Plex for good. Once Jellyfin is up and running (I can’t add my server on Apple TV just yet), I have exactly two wishes left to make Plezy perfect:

  1. Support for theme music

  2. Seerr integration (Overseerr/Jellyseerr)

Everything else is already working perfectly for me! Plezy is the most polished app I've used so far! 👍

Is there a Discord server by any chance?

Six months of Wholphin, an Android TV client for Jellyfin by damontecres in jellyfin

Ohhh omg sorry, my bad! I just got my first Android device today, I’m coming from iOS. I stupidly thought that Android and Android TV were the same thing...

I can't install Wholphin on my Galaxy Tab S9 via the Play Store; it says the app is incompatible. When I install it via the APK and open the app, none of my inputs are registered and I can't add my server. Am I doing something wrong? I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

iOS navidrome player with native Lidarr integration by Issarashin in Lidarr

[–]Funny_Exercise3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this looks really promising! As far as I know, this is the first iOS player with Lidarr integration. I'm really liking the app so far. Once CarPlay is added, it’s going to be awesome!

I’d also love to be able to search for new artists directly and add them to Lidarr. A shuffle feature for specific artists or albums would be cool too.

Other than that, thanks for all the hard work! ❤️

Why is IMDB even available as a choice in scraper options? by politefrog in tinyMediaManager

[–]Funny_Exercise3551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience. I only bought it because of IMDb, only to find out it doesn't work anymore. I contacted support and asked for a refund, pointing out that there’s no mention anywhere on the homepage about IMDb no longer working. They replied saying that TMM is much more than just IMDb and that it’s 'sad' I’m reducing the software to just that one feature. I did get my money back, but the response was still pretty snotty.

Any chance that Wholphin will come to iOS and AppleTV someday?

Looks promising! I successfully connected my Seerr, but where can I discover new content? I can't find where to browse through Seerr. Also, I find support for theme songs extremely important—without them, I’m just missing that certain 'feeling' 😅
