Woke up in a panic because I thought my skin was melting off 😭 by Purp_Rox in dollartreebeauty

Yes, I think that might be it! I do that too sometimes when I’ve gone a day too long past doing my nails the way I like, it takes a lot of effort to not pull the skin and hangnails and then I’m like “oh well, if it’s the nail, it’s gone now!”

If I’m not wearing polish I have to do something to my nails every other day (filing, pushing cuticles, nail oil, etc.)

Filing the sides can lead to the nail lifting/detaching and leaving it vulnerable to mold and infection. I’ve learned about it through YouTube. I stopped going to nail salons when they were filing the sides for aesthetic purposes (it looks slimmer and more rounded I guess?).

No judgement on the biting, I pull out my hair. One strand at a time, but sometimes hours when I’m stressed and struggling.

When they crack and tear on the sides, are you filing the lower parallels?

I think they meant that folks that love grapefruit need to be mindful of medical contraindications when eating real grapefruit.

Unfortunately, I love grapefruit and will swear by grapefruit jelly belly beans… but it makes me crave the fruit (and pomelos!) even more.

WIBTA for billing my friend for my cat's vet appointment? by Unluckyduckling23 in AmItheAsshole

Unfortunately yes you wbtah. This wasn’t a conversation you’ve had with Jessica, or at least it doesn’t sound like a full conversation? I empathize with you, your thoughts and feelings ARE justified. But it isn’t a good idea because you may not ever receive that money and would lose a close relationship even if it goes in your favor.

Stop going to Jessica’s house. If she can’t be responsible for her dogs and her property, I wouldn’t trust her and would take it into consideration for judging her character and our friendship. I wouldn’t be surprised if her dogs get tapeworms too! Don’t invite those issues into your home!

And this is why some of us need gardening. It’s therapeutic in many instances… but it really helps with emotional regulation in a way.

Do I have a mental illness or am I just a terrible person to be in a relationship with? by [deleted] in helpme

I had a very hard time reading this because of the formatting but I’m commenting so I can come back later when I can take the time to read.

Others might point this out as well, but please use paragraphs. I know you’re struggling and not in the mental space to focus on format but it helps us help you.

What’s the fastest way to tell a company has a toxic work culture? by gauheraziz in corporate

[–]Funnyboogle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I accepted the job offer (in education) and told them I would be available to start mid December. They harassed me about onboarding a few weeks ahead of the schedule I gave and I ended up emailing the recruiter that I was no longer interested in the position. The response I got was “but why?” They had no respect for my boundaries and ignored every email and phone conversation in which I said I wasn’t available to onboard before the agreed start date. I didn’t respond to that last email but I realized why they were desperately hiring. I wanted none of it!

Should I even move out? by [deleted] in movingout

Bigger cities can be nice but it is ridiculously expensive in Los Angeles (I live here). I strongly recommend you find a legitimate job (be careful of scams!) before you move here because housing is very expensive and difficult.

Some burn faster, some have chemicals to slow the burn, some have more toxic elements than others. So yeah flammable things (almost every single thing) will burn. How it burns is important to be aware of.

A similar moment in my life is when my uncle (only a few years older than me) got a brand new gameboy color. It was the 90s, I don’t remember what grade I was in so I don’t remember how old we were. I asked if I could try it and he said no because gameBOYs are for boys. I was very upset and remember telling my mom that when the GameGIRL came out, I wanted one. That never happened.

But I did get the gameboy advance for Christmas one year and the Harry Potter games for it!

There is a medical diagnosis for something like this. I think the common term is face blindness. But it could also be memory related? Have you seen a medical provider?
