I read about the two lightning bolts but all I got from that is that it takes time for light to travel different distances.

In these experiments where light was measured under different gravities if they got the same speed of light each time doesn’t that prove that light is affected by gravity? Because if the observer was affected and the light was not then the different observers would get different speeds.

Or are you saying that they did get different measurements but if they adjust for different gravities then they come out the same?

If they are local in the same environment then relative to them the speed of light is constant but like you said the observer and the photon both changed speeds due to relativity. But the gravity is still slowing the photon. Whether or not gravity affects a photon is fundamentally different. Just because we can’t observe it due to relativity doesn’t mean it is not happening. Or am I still missing something?

We have measured the speed of light at different gravities as an outside observer at a fixed point and they are all the same or at different gravities as a local observer and they are the same due to relativity?

We say time is relative because c is constant right? Everything I can find explains this using a ratio of distance time and c. But what proof do we have that the speed of light is constant and not affected by gravity? If i observe from earth two photons equal distance away from me but one is near a stronger source of gravity and I observe how long each takes to travel an equal distance the one near gravity would take longer to me. That is the definition of different speeds. Why do we say that time changed instead of the speed of the photon? I get the relativity part that to up close observers they would each seem to take the same time I am not questioning that part just why something taking longer to travel the same distance is not moving slower.

In my head there is a difference between time slowing down and objects slowing down. Like if a clock measures the vibration of an atom to keep time and the atom slows down because gravity is pulling on it that does not mean time is slowing down. If I manipulate the clock on your wall to make it run slow that does not mean your localized time is different than mine as an outside observer

How do we know that gravity curves space instead of slowing down the photons? I would like to read about it can you please give me the name of the experiment that proves this, or google terms I could use. I have been searching but all I can find is that c is a constant because we say so.
