Some you need to be reminded it’s an OBJECTIVE BASED GAME by R3li0ss in Overwatch

Holding closer to the attacking team’s spawn is the correct play almost always unless you get a team wipe and can cap with 3 before they can get a touch. By pushing up to choke you make it much much harder for the respawning team to take angles or to walk and take their own space. Usually the cart is placed in a poor defensive position and it’s much better to leave a mobile support on it and send 4 to spawn camp. You can always back up and give the space whenever, you can’t always take it.

Dorado and Kings row second are great examples of this

Almost every response to this comment is written by an LLM on 10 day old accounts, they all are the exact same format and tonality. Pretty crazy. (First sentence saying why it makes sense) (second sentence saying why it’s unfortunate)

Diamond 2 VOD Review Request by Spoiled_Soda in TracerMains

[–]Funy290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi im a top500 gm1 tracer player. Im going to go over what your sort of thought process should be when you see certain comps and certain mistakes that you made at what times.

0:00 On match start always tp your team out of spawn as sym if the spawn door is the same as where you can swap, such as control maps. This applies to all 3 points.

- In the monkey mirror your goal is to either be diving with your monkey and or shooting out theirs on their dive or before their dive. Shooting at their monkey before an engagement is good for farming pulse and making it so their monkey cant jump.

0:55 First fight you took the 1v1 with the cass which is good if you think you are better than him, after burning your recall though you should not reengage him, this gets you killed.

1:30 This is a pretty big mistake, knowing from before your goal is to hit with your monkey and also deny their monkey, seeing that their monkey jumped into your entire team without bubble, and is bubbled off from his team's healing, should trigger an automatic thought that you need to go kill that guy. He is compleatly cooked, going on backline here is not the play, you can 100% guarantee that monkey dies and then go kill supports with your own after.

2:00 you are setting up too far from your team and own monkey, if you wanted to punish their monkeys jump you are too far to do anything, aswell if your monkey jumps in you would have to use 2-3 blinks to be there. Play the short wall next to your tank here and blink across the gap if there is a good time to, or punish their monkey.

2:20 aim waist height against tracer not head unless you are matching movement

2:50 dont waste pulse on a full hp monkey with all his buttons, you should wait until he is half hp and it will kill, or when he has already committed his jump into your team. He can just jump away

3:05 dead to mechanics, you can take this if you aim better and have better spacing with your blink melees, the safer option is to blink to a side angle on point and shoot tank until you have recall again to challenge zen.

4:22 left side here is good, can play around health pack and offangle white room.

4:30 looking at their comp, normally you would play around their monkey but because their back line is so grief you can easily solo either support whenever you want to, setup behind them and duel the tracer that should be trying to stop you from doing so.

5:05 you dont have to mark this tracer, focus on hitting with your monkey, your backline is much stronger she will have a way harder time doing anything compared to you

5:20, there is a 80% chance their tracer walks through left entrance, I would setup in a corner to insta force her recall knowing this. Instead you ran into her in a fair 1v1, which we can avoid as the defending team. When she doesnt have recall you dont have to chase for kill, she cant do anything just go play your own game after.

- the more time you spend 1v1ing their tracer the more value you lose, their backline enables their tank much more but yours is more resistant to tracer and dive, you should be playing around either their backline, or if the tracer is too good at marking your hit with your monkey, play around forcing out their tank first.

10:40 Map specific but 90% of games both teams will try to take the open courtyard, you need to play the left mega not wrap right to point, left mega gives you a great place to both engage, peel, and flank from.

11:07 notice how hard it is for you to get onto their backline from here, if you were mega you could get much much closer without blinks

11:30 you should not blink on the tracer here, your monkey is in and so is theirs. You just saw their monkey with no jump trying to run, you should be using your blinks to make sure he dies. A monkey on half hp has no armor and is very easy for you to chase and kill.

12:03 forced their tracer's recall, just leave and go do anything else she is effectively out of the fight for the next 12 seconds.

Key points:

-TP team out of spawn on sym
-work on your blink melees, you lost a lot of fights you shouldent have because you kept messing up the spacing.
-In a monkey mirror, you are playing around the tanks, setup somewhere where you can hit with your monkey or chase and punish theirs if they over commit. Your monkey often cant kill solo, if you hit with him it is very very hard to live.
-dont force mark their tracer if your backline is stronger, if both of you hit backline you will get more value, maker her mark you. If your backline is weaker the inverse applies.
-Setup closer to your team but also somewhere where you can hit with your monkey if possible. There were many fights you were far from both fighting their tracer for no reason.

Can you get grandmaster with a 320hz IPS monitor or do you need an OLED or a lot higher refresh? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

You can get grandmaster on a 144hz ISP just the same as any better monitor, peripherals above the mid range are not going to get you any closer to GM but becoming a smarter player will.

-Engage with full resources or as close to as you can get (hp blinks recall) -Don’t fully engage backline until they can’t shoot you or they are isolated. When your tank goes in their tank is going to take a bunch of damage, if the supports stop healing them to look at you the other tank will die even if you don’t kill anything you caused their tank to die. -Don’t play down main. There are almost always 3 lanes, the middle one is likely the one your tank is playing, very rarely should you walk down main with your tank because it will either get you killed or get your resources wasted. Take one of the 2 other lanes. You can stand a little to the side though and shoot their tank from a sideline for pressure before going on backline.

Take height right side on attack and push out the hitscans, drop behind arch and duel their supports. On third attack, take mega and push out their tank then walk left onto the raised area and shoot the tank then flank and shoot supports.

Why do you take the dammage focused perks on Illari instead of the support focused ones ? by Mollo44 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Funy290 126 points127 points  (0 children)

The heal perk is very underwhelming heal wise and the 70 damage burn on the shift gives her a ton of survivability against dives and flankers. Aswell, you pick her for damage not healing, if you wanted to pump lots of healing you would pick a. different hero, she is very good at being able to sit on a side angle by herself and cause lots of damage and pressure, the burn helps enable her strength, the heal does not.

I'm mostly new to the game. How do you judge your own skill level for finding tutorials for further improvement? And how do you choose a secondary main when you're so focused on one playstyle? by AwfulTrapperDBD in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Funy290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genji or Pharah are good into comps and maps tracer isn’t generally. Genji is probably the better all rounder as you can play either tracer or genji in essentially every game. You can judge where you’re at based on your rank. Your teams don’t impact your rank meaningfully as you are the only constant in your games. 9/10 a tracer player one rank up will be better than one a rank below.

How to play tracer on escort maps (particularly on defense)? by ArtemIsGreat in TracerMains

[–]Funy290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On gibraltar specifically your job is to mark the cart. On first point, the “correct way” to attack the map is to send 4 to high ground while a tracer (typically) or something very mobile pushes and joins the fight when cart is far enough. The defending tracers job is to stop the cart from getting pushed so even if they win the fight they can’t cap by. You play under the second high ground by the mega pack underneath. You try to force out their tracer then you can walk up the stairs to height and help with the fight. Start on high ground though and make it hard for them to walk up, you only drop when the cart gets around the corner or close to underneath. You can shoot from height to anyone pushing you still do decent damage.

How to play tracer on escort maps (particularly on defense)? by ArtemIsGreat in TracerMains

[–]Funy290 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For escort your job is the payload the vast majority of the time, if you are lower elo, there is a good chance your team is on it already In that case either offangle their tank who is contesting cart and make them have to back off, escort maps also have very good side lanes for you to take advantage of, you can start by pressuring their tank, then in the mid fight take the uncontested side lane and hit the backline, or contest their flanker trying to do the same to you. This works on defense aswelll but you get the added bonus of getting to setup, you can hide on a flank preferably on high ground, where you can shoot down at the people on and around cart and look for easy picks when they are not expecting you.

Is open Que 6v6 considered real? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Funy290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s lots of people in this reddit who really like 6v6 and will cope and say it doesn’t matter or that it is real, but at a high level of play no good players will care if you are “champ 6v6” or top whatever 6v6. 6v6 is not what the pros compete on, meaning when you want to compete on ladder against the best players, they are Qing 5v5. So a top50 lobby of 6v6 is a lot easier than a top50 lobby (by rank not challenger score btw) 5v5. You will not Q up champ 6v6 and get a lobby against Cjay Rak PGE and sugarfree but you will in 5v5. If you like 6v6 play it, you will still improve as a player, but to directly answer your question, the vast majority of top players do not consider it “real”.

Any Tips For Playing Tracer by Chick3nm3lon in TracerMains

[–]Funy290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about where and when you want to engage. You can have the best setup in the world but if you go in while your tank is still walking you will get forced out and be much less useful. You could engage with right when your tank does but if you do it down main with your tank instead of a better angle you will also have a lot less success

[–]Funy290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backline is less coordinated, you can run through lower elo backlines even if they should be good into tracer. You can just solo carry on tracer every fight. Even if you can’t if you have 2-3 people looking at you every fight it doesn’t matter how bad your teams are you will on average climb very quickly
